Directions for Use:
CAUTION: When initially using Waste-Away manufacturer strongly recommends adding only a half a dose. For especially dirty tanks this may temporarily cause cloudy water and a low ammonia value. DO NOT OVERDOSE as this many cause a drop in the oxygen level.
One week later, start with regular dose.
SHAKE WELL BEFORE USING. Dose 10 ml (1 capful) per 10 gal. Use once per week as a natural way to keep your aquarium clean.
Directions for using
Waste-Away for removing cyanobacteria from your marine aquarium.
Manually remove as much of the cyanobacteria (slime algae)/algae as possible by siphoning, netting and micro filtration. Make sure your aquarium has a protein skimmer and good aeration before proceding.
Re-Fresh every 2 days and wait 2 days in between dosages. Use 2 to 3 times at a dosage of 5 ml per 10 gallons aquarium water. Reef tank owners - beware that high doses of Re-Fresh may harm snails and shrimp at very high doses so these organisms should be removed from the aquarium.
48 hours after the last dosing of Re-Fresh, dose the aquarium with
Waste-Away. Start with a half-dose (5ml per 10 gallons). Wait 2 days or until the water is clear and add another 1/2 dose. If there are a lot of organics in the system you may experience cloudy water. This is a sign that the beneficial bacteria are working but also a sign to proceed cautiously because too much of a bacterial bloom can lower the oxygen to dangerous levels. 48 hours after the 2nd dosing of waste-away or when the water clears add a full dose on the waste-away.
Continue to add Waste-Away every 2 to 3 days (watching for any cloudiness) for 2 weeks. Generally at the end of this 4 week period of adding Re-FRESH and Waste-Away the tank will be clean and there will be a noticeable improvement in water clarity and cleanliness of the substrate.
Once the aquarium is looking better Waste-Away should be added on a routine basis - at least every month. However, it is important for you to evaluate the reasons for the organic build-up in the aquarium in the first place. Is it the result of overfeeding, over-population, lack of routine cleaning? To save yourself continued headaches a critical self-evaluation of the causes is warranted and action needed.
Bacterial additives establish a healthy population of beneficial bacteria that efficiently break down ammonia into nitrite and then to nitrate. The use of bacterial additives is most commonly associated with the initial set up of an aquarium.
Dr. Tim's One and Only is available for freshwater and for saltwater aquariums and is designed for one job - to quickly establish a biofilter in your newly set up aquarium so that your fish do not experience New Tank Syndrome (NTS).
