Use the latest technology to stay one step ahead of pesky squirrels. This feeder's weight-sensitive spring mechanism closes feed ports when squirrels attempt to eat, and it is located inside the feeder so squirrels can't tamper with it. Use with or without the cardinal ring, depending on birds you wish to attract. Built-to-last UV-stabilized polycarbonate, powder-coated aluminum, and stainless steel. Top-filling design includes hanger. Easy assembly. Holds 3 quarts
mixed seed or sunflower seed. 7" dia x 22" high.
Let birds dine with total protection from the elements by adding the Squirrel Buster Plus Weather Guard. This wide guard installs easily over the seed skirt of the feeder. Also keeps seed dry. UV-protected polycarbonate. Lifetime warranty. 13" dia x 2" high.
How it Works
Open the bottom section of the feeder (shroud) alight with seed ports, providing birds access to the seed. When a squirrel climbs onto the feeder, its weight automatically forces the shroud down, closing the seed ports. Squirrels and large birds are foiled but not harmed in any way.
Rugged UV-filtered ABS and Polycarbonate resins and powder-coated aluminum components. Hangers, springs, and fasteners are stainless steel.
Seed Ventilation System
Damp and decaying seed decreases bird traffic and can spread disease. Most transparent bird feeder seed tubes trap solar energy just like a greenhouse. The air in this feeder escapes through patented water-proof vents at the top of the feeder. Fresh air enters through the seed ports at the bottom of the tube, keeping the birdseed fresher and attracting more birds.
Thick, adjustable-length perches with textured surfaces provide a secure and comfortable grip for birds. Attract small birds such as chickadees and finches (while deterring larger birds like grackles and starlings) by shortening the perches. Perches can also be extended just enough to attract medium-sized birds, including grosbeaks and woodpeckers.
Cleaning this Feeder
Always examine your feeder before filling to determine if it requires cleaning. Cleaning frequency will vary according to climate. In general, hot and humid climates require more frequent cleaning than colder climates.
Wash the components with a solution of dish detergent and warm water. Rinse with a solution of white vinegar and water. Vinegar will not harm your feeder or your birds. Do not use bleach when cleaning this feeder.
You can also wash in the dishwasher. Remove any accumulation of seed and place the dismantled feeder components on the top rack of the dishwasher. Fill the detergent dispenser with your regular dishwasher detergent. Select either high temperature drying or an air-dry option, but wash your feeder separately from your dishes. Upon completion, your feeder will be sanitized and look like new.
