Overview and Cautions
The Eclipse is a minimalistic design with a slim black box that features a new way to effectively transport water to your sump with as little noise as possible. This DIY (Do-It-Yourself) project is a very simple plug and play overflow system. The installation procedure is very simple. However, Eshopps recommends any drilling and installation be performed by a professional maintenance servicer.
Installers: Please read the instructions carefully before proceeding.
Eshopps will not be responsible for any damage to the Eclipse Overflow Box, surroundings, or personal injury resulting from Installation, Improper Installation, use or misuse of the product. If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail Eshopps at firstname.lastname@example.org prior to installation. Be sure that you have everything you need in addition to what is already provided in the package contents to complete the installation prior to beginning.
Here are the following items you also need to accompany the Eclipse installation setup:
An Aquarium tank
A glass or acrylic tank is recommended for installation. The strength of an acrylic tank is usually thick enough to be able to accommodate any overflow system that needs to be drilled upon installation. IMPORTANT: If you are planning to drill a glass tank, be sure to double check if the glass is tempered - tempered glass cannot be drilled to accommodate any filter system design as the glass would shatter immediately upon drilling. If you are unsure, please call and double check with the manufacturer of your glass tank to ask if it is okay to drill your glass tank.
Eshopps recommends using a cordless drill, so that the power cord wouldn't be in your way when drilling the tank. It's important to be safe and to be aware of your surrounding when beginning to drill into the tank. IMPORTANT: Please wear goggles and gloves when drilling to protect you and prevent any damage.
Eshopps Holesaw & Template
Both are included. The Eshopps Holesaw is a diamond coated 60mm used with your drill to create the hole in aquarium tank. The Template is also included with your purchase and serves as a stencil to precisely drill the hole in your tank.
Use to hold the template in place with the aquarium when drilling a hole.
Spray Bottle with water or cup of water
Use to use in the hole of the template before drilling.
Use to dry water and to catch the drilled piece.
Items needed for this part of installation:
The Template should be in between the black box and the clear box when opened from packaging. Simply, remove the bulkhead that's connecting the clear box and the black box and pull the Template out. Then take the included Template and position it on your tank so the arrow on the template is facing the top of the tank on the surface. Once the Template is in place and you are happy with the position of the hole to be drilled on your aquarium tank, use a clamp to hold down the Template firmly. Next, make sure to find a towel and place it on the opposite side of the tank from where you'll be drilling it so it may catch the glass plug once the drill goes through the glass and not scratch any other part of the tank's surface.
After this is all prepared, you may proceed to drill the tank. Grab a water bottle or a spray and pour it on the hole of the Template. This is to keep the glass cool while drilling it. Now, with the template in place and the hole filled with some water, you can then proceed to drill until you reach a good groove. Slowly continue to drill all the way through the glass and remember to cool it with water while drilling for more ease and to make sure the glass doesn't break. Once the hole is drilled, dry the tank and clean the aquarium. You are now ready to install your new Eclipse.
Items needed for this part of installation:
- 1.5" Bulkhead
- Black Box
- Clear Box
To install the Eclipse in your drilled tank, take the rubber gaskets and lock nut out from the bulkhead. Leave the body in the black box and install it through the holes you just drilled on your aquarium. The black box will be inside the tank as you fit the bulkhead through the hole. Next, take the remaining 2 rubber gaskets to place them on the bulkhead that's protruding through the back glass of the aquarium. Afterwards, slide on the clear box over the bulkhead from the opposite side of the aquarium glass and tighten with the lock nut to secure your black box and clear box. Hand tighten the bulkhead, but make sure not to over tighten as over tightening may cause the gaskets to leak or damage the Eclipse overflow box.
You have now completed the installation of your brand new Eclipse Overflow Box. If you run into any trouble or have any questions during installation, feel free to contact Eshopps and they will be more than happy to assist you with it!
