Protects dog, passengers, and drivers during auto travel
Features nesting buckles inspired by harnesses of climbers and linesmen
Easy-to-use pet harness has a near-custom fit and attaches to any seat belt
A secure dog keeps everyone in a moving vehicle safer. The Kurgo Enhanced Strength True-Fit Smart Harness is designed not only to minimize driver distraction, but also to help protect drivers, passengers, and dogs from injury in the event of sudden stops or crashes. It also makes a great walking harness for dogs.
Tru-Fit Smart Harness comes with all the features of a standard harness, plus the additional strength of innovative Nesting Buckles, inspired by the harnesses of linesmen and rock climbers. This crash-tested harness is quick and easy to put on; just slip it over your dog's head and clip it around his midsection. Five different adjustments provide a near-custom fit, and the chest pad gives you easy control of your dog - in both the vehicle and when walking. A D-ring on the chest pad allows easy leash attachment. Please specify Black or Red. Please Note: The XSmall Harness in Red does not come with a D-ring on the front of the harness.
Broad, padded chest plate for enhanced comfort and protection
Includes a seat-belt loop
Can be used safely with any seat belt or the Kurgo Auto Zip Line
Using design, construction and testing to provide the best protection while riding, turning and stopping in extreme situations, the harness' all-steel Nesting Buckle system is based on the time-tested harnesses of rock climbers and linemen. The harness is easy to use; it simply slips over the dog's head and clips around the midsection. Five adjustments provide a nearly custom fit and a chest pad ensures control and security in the vehicle. The harness can be used with any seat belt.
Kurgo Enhanced Strength Tru-Fit Smart Harness was crash tested at an accredited University to determine its effectiveness as an automotive restraint. There is no industry or government standard for testing the safety of pet restraints in vehicles, so Kurgo looked to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard for child restraint systems (FMVSS 213) and concluded that Kurgo would also use 30 mph as their testing standard. A harnessed crash-test dog was used to mimic a real 35-lb dog traveling at 30 mph. Upon impact, the harnessed crash-test dog remained strapped in the harness while the unrestrained crash-test dog launched into the front of the vehicle.
"A crash or sudden stop is a danger for all passengers as well as the pet," says Jennifer Huebner-Davidson, AAA National, Traffic Safety Programs Manager. "An unrestrained 10-pound dog in a crash at only 30 mph will exert roughly 300 pounds of pressure, while an unrestrained 80-pound dog in a crash at only 30 mph will exert approximately 2,400 pounds of pressure. Imagine the devastation that can cause to your pet and anyone in its path."
