Waterfall filters are multifunctional units used to
create beautiful waterfalls, rambling streams, or
even pondless waterfall features. These filters often
include mechanical or biological filter media to provide
supplemental filtration for enhanced water quality.
aterfall filters are modular components boasting versatile installation
options limited only by your imagination. Think of them as reservoirs
or containers with a spillway that can be installed independently or
incorporated as part of a larger filtration system or water feature.
Simple, independent installation involves treating waterfall filters like an
external filter powered by a submersible pump that draws water directly from
the pond. However, the most popular application of waterfall filters involves use
in conjunction with skimmer filters. When used in this fashion, the
properly matched skimmer filter and waterfall filter form a circuit, (please see
diagram below). Water drawn in and filtered by the skimmer filter is directed to
the waterfall filter via a pump discreetly concealed within the skimmer filter.
Waterfall filters are gaining new and creative use with the rising popularity
of pondless waterfalls and "disappearing" waterfalls. When used in this
fashion, a pump hidden inside a pump vault supplies the water to drive the waterfall filter.
