Thank you for contacting Doctors Foster and Smith with your question regarding an appropriate diet for your dogs.
There are many factors to consider when choosing a diet for a pet including life stage, activity level, and medical conditions. Often times, there is not one diet that is appropriate for every pet in the household. We would recommend discussing with your veterinarian which diet(s) are the most appropriate for your dogs. At 8 years of age, some dogs may do well on a high quality adult maintenance diet, but many dogs should be transitioned to a high quality senior diet around this age. Overweight dogs can be fed a weight management diet. If your Spaniels have any medical conditions that are managed or treated with a prescription diet, then that particular prescription diet needs to be fed rather than an over the counter diet.
We hope this information is helpful. Thanks again for contacting us.
