I believe the double critter nation(DCN) to be the best cage for a number of pet rats) I agree that it could easily house 10 maybe 12,def a very nice cage, can close off bottom from top if desired, very easy to clean and decorate,lots of places to hang things from easy to reach+ play with your pets with the 4full open front doors, its great and your rats will love it too, mine do... best of luck
P.s I've tried many cages in my opion the dcn by far is the roomiest/best, good luck with your decision....

In my opinion, the Double Critter Nation would be the best cage for a large rat colony as it can comfortably house approximately 10 rats maximum. It also has the capability of closing off the top half from the bottom half which is handy if you have both boys and girls and need to keep them separated.

Is keeping mice in a glass fish tank bad for them?

I have been keeping to female mice inside of a large glass fish tank and was wondering if that would affect their health. Should I keep them in there or invest in a new cage. They seem happy and content in the cage now.

Answer:

Mice do just fine in a glass aquarium with a metal mesh lid and locking clips, provided you keep the tank clean. There is enough air flow with the mesh lid, glass is much easier to clean, and most wire cages either have too large wire spacing for mice or the overall size is too small.

Fish tanks are not good,I raise Rats.Small animals<need air flowing through.Exspecially in summer.I put my 2 girls in a 10gal. fish tank,only to clean big cage.Also small animals need to run and have a wheel and hiding places.And of course room for toys also.Hope this helps.Ive had rats for 10years or more and have learned alot about them.
