Answer:

UVB light is critical for Iguanas and Bearded Dragons. Without it, their bodies are unable to produce Vitamin D3, and they will develop painful and eventually fatal bone problems. Simply put, these reptiles will become sick and die without proper amounts of UVB light.

UVB bulbs are available in a few different varieties, like for fluorescent or screw-in fixtures. These bulbs are not cheap, and should be replaced every six months, but they are absolutely necessary to keep iguanas and beardies.

what lighting and heating combo should I use with the Exo Terra Turtle Terrarium?

I would recommend that you start out with a 75w heat bulb and see if that will meet the heating requriements for your specific species. For a uvb bulb I recommend that you use the 5.0 full spectrum (tube) bulb, so that you are providing your turtle with uvb the entire length of the tank; which is essential to the health of your turtle! This depends on what kind of animal or "reptile" and heat and light needs and the type of fixture you are looking to use on your enclosure. However as a general rule, a 24x18x24 terrarium would need an 24" long light fixture such as the exo terra dual canopy or a double dome hanging light fixture like the zoo med double dome for adequate light and heat. neither fixture will cover the whole top of the terrarium unless you get two dual canopy's As far as bulbs, again depending on heat and light requirements of the animal, a general is a good UVB and UV bulb ie the zoo med reptisun and naturesun bulbs and for heat an infered and or a ceramic heat bulb.

I have a coralife 48" compact fluorescent light fixture - are there UVA/UVB bulbs for reptiles to use with this fixture?

I have a coralife 48" compact fluorescent light fixture that I used for a 55 gallon reef tank. I now have turtles in the tank and would like to use the same light fixture. Are there uva/uvb bulbs that can be used with this fixture?

need full spectrum light that emmits at least 10,000 lux; do you sell them?

specifically looking for the bulb or flood light design. however, will consider tube (fluorescent type). if you do sell one or all types and they do emmit at least 10,000 lux, please include light box or lamp fixtures that would accomodate each/any. thank you, jennife'
