How to fit: Gentle Leader® and Gentle Leader® Deluxe fit differently than other collars or halters you may have used. Without a proper fit, you may experience problems, such as excessive pawing, rubbing, and resistance, or chafing of the nose. The Nose Loop needs to be as loose and comfortable as possible, moving freely from in front of the eyes to the beginning of the fleshy part of the nose, but NOT so loose that it comes off. The proper fit of the Nose Loop is totally dependent on the proper fit of the Neck Strap, which must be high at the very top of the neck (touching the skull) and very snug (only one finger barely squeezes underneath), so that it cannot rotate. (If the Neck Strap rotates, so will the Nose Loop, which may cause chafing of the skin.) When properly fitted and viewed from the side, Gentle Leader will resemble the letter "V" and not an "L".

I have a 4 year old Corgi and an 8 year old Foxhound. Together they weigh 100 pounds. Until I started using the Gentle Leader I was unable to walk them together. I could hardly walk the Corgi by himself. He pulled so hard and so insistently that I had constant bruises on my hands and wrists from the leash. Gentle Leader was a miracle from day one. I can still hardly believe it. I walk them together and they learned fast that if they pull they will not like the face/neck sensation. I thought they were untrainable, but they learned this immediately. They can pant, bark, and walk comfortably. They just find pulling nonproductive. This is a genius of a product. I am 62 years old and finally feel safe and secure walking them. It went from a nightmare to a pleasure. Really. We all get more exercise because walks don't entail major anxiety about pulling and lurching. I never wrote a product testamonial before, but this product deserves it. Try it ! This product was recommended by my vet. My dog was so anxious to get ahead on the leash that she would pull until she choked herself. We tried flat collars, choke chains, and the pinch collar. She would pull until she coughed and once choked herself to the point of passing out. The Gentle Leader was my miracle. She didn't like the nose loop at first, but she learned she couldn't get out of the car without and adjusted. It is something I will always recommend to anyone!! The only irritation is explaining to non-dog people that it is NOT a muzzle.

My 100 lb lab-hound is a new dog with this headcollar!! Highly recommended - after trying different harnesses, choke chains, etc. a trainer recommended this product (over the Halti headcollar). It doesn't hurt him at all, it just grabs his attention - just as quickly as he decided to pull. Sometimes he starts to scratch at his head and nose, so I readjust it (may have come loose). EXCELLENT PRODUCT!!!! Do yourself a favor and skip the choke chains and harnesses!

I was extremely dissappointed by the Halti brand of head collar. It was near impossible to put on without instructions and it did not seem to fit my dog that well. I would recommend getting a "Gentle Leader" Brand head collar. It is easier to use, rarely gets tangled or twisted, and seems to fit my dog better. The "Gentle Leader" brand might be a few dollars more but it was very very worth it to me.

Wow! I was very skeptical of this product. I didn’t love the idea of a strap going over my dog’s nose. After trying three different “no pull” harness’; one broke, one cut the armpits and the other was just useless, I decided to give the Gentle Leader a try. I have three dogs and only one with a pulling problem. In a matter of 10 minutes, I had a different dog on the end of my leash. Don’t get me wrong, she fought it and on occasion tries to rebel but eventually she gives in and walks like a lady. I highly recommend this product!

The gentle leader is an amazing tool to use in training and walking your dog. I have a young Lab that would strain against tradition collars or "choke chains" no matter what. That does not occur with the Gentle Leader. It was recommended to me by a professional trainer and it is phenomenal. From the very first use and ever since, she is a different dog when it is on her.

Pit bulls can pull 30 times their own weight. Mine weighs 70lbs (2100lbs pull-power) so having me at the end of the leash was no deterant. The first time I put it on her: MIRACLE! She didn't pull at all, even from the first walk. I could not believe it would be so simple to stop a very powerful puller. BELIEVE IT.

WOW! The results are almost instant! my dog knows how to walk now. Not run, not jump, not pull me down or terrorize whatever happens to catch his attention, just walk. I can even allow my children to hold the leash without fearing that he will pull them down. This is an amazing product and I would recommend it to anyone that has a hard to handle dog.

My 9 month old Min Pin loved to run, jump and pull when he was on his lead. He loves meeting new people so much - we'd almost given up trying to get him to not run to meet every new person and jump up on them to say hello. Walking him was like trying to keep hold of a torpedo! We tried harnesses, but he could care less about them and training was at a standstill. The doggy day care he goes to recommended the Gentle Leader - about 80% of the dogs there wear them - what a difference!!! For the first 2-3 days, he kept trying to paw it off, but after lots of attention and treats when he would wear it (without trying to get it off) he will go all day now with his on, playing with his buddies at day care without giving it a second thought! The halter is well-crafted and well worth the price.

Oh My goodness! From the moment I put the Gentle Leader Headcollar on my 6 mo old 40lb Weimaraner, she was a completely different Weim. The Calming effect that the company mentions is true. She has calmed down so much since wearing it, that she acts like a 3yr old instead of 6mo. Sure she tried to paw it off her face for the first day or so but now she is fine with it. I could not walk her no matter what method of collar I had around her neck. Now with the Gentle Leader Headcollar, she is a DREAM. There is an added bonus to this collar as well. It helps a lot with puppy mouthing/play bitting. She can not get my whole hand or arm or wrist in her mouth anymore. If you have any doubts about this collar Put them to rest. You will have a Calm, easy to walk, no biting dog. Everyone in your family will be much happier. Including your dog.

I have a standard poodle in which she pulled me all over, even my kids couldn't walk her...until I went to the park. A lady saw me being dragged and told me about the Gentle Leader that her dog was on...I was skeptical because it looked like a type of muzzle....but after day in and day out fighting with her just taking her to go potty, I finally gave in and got her one......miracle! My kids can hold the leash with one hand, heck one finger, and she will not pull...my 6 year old was amazed on how different she was and now loves to walk her whenever she gets a chance. If a 6 year old was amazed, how would you feel???....WE TELL EVERYONE WE MEET because there should be no reason not to walk your pet!!!!

Two years ago my son went to the pound and brought home the most adorable German Shepard-mix pup. Eli had THE largest paws of any pup we had ever seen. Eli has grown into those paws. At two years old, he is a big, beautiful boy of 102.2 pounds. I had never had such a large dog before. After a year of being drug everywhere we went, my vet suggested I buy him a Gentle Leader. He is a completely different dog. Did he fuss at first? Absolutely! After only our second walk though, he was no longer bothered by the funny little band over his big snout. Yes, that tiny little contraption will rein in a 100+pound dog. He now prances with joy when he sees this leash and leader, holding his big head still while I get him ready to roll. Which takes, oh, about two seconds. I'd have fewer scars, aches and pains had I known about the gentle leader two years ago. I highly recommend this product. Watch the video, ask your vet. You won't go wrong. He now struts proudly through our little town, the big dog with that funny little thingy over his nose. Buy it.
