Feeding Guidelines

*Use a standard 8 oz. liquid measuring cup. An 8 oz. cup = 3.9 oz. by weight. If feeding multiple meals, divide daily amount into equal portions. Your dog's requirements may vary from the above feeding guide. Adjust quantities as necessary to maintain optimal weight. If you're unsure about how much to feed your dog, seek veterinary/professional advice.

If feeding Drs. Foster & Smith dog food for the first time, gradually adjust your dog's current diet to avoid stomach upset. Mix 1/4 part Drs. Foster & Smith food with current food for 2-3 days. Gradually increase the new food and decrease current food over 7-10 days until you are feeding all Drs. Foster & Smith food. Keep fresh drinking water available at all times.

I have 3 Miniature Schnauzers. My youngest male was given to me at 7 months old with a bag of sensative stomach dog food. I tried unsuccessfully to switch him to other foods. My Pit Bull mix has had diarrhea, skin, and allergy problems since she was a puppy. Over the past 3 years, I have spent thousands of dollars on vet bills for these ongoing problems. Every vet that I take her to puts her on prescription diet food which is very expensive and it never completely helps her situation. I recently adopted a 3 yr old Cocker Spaniel. I put him on what I considered quality dog food that I had my Rottweiler on for years. My Cocker started vomiting about 6 hours after eating - the food was not digesting. First it was once a week - then it became more frequent. I took him to the vet and when I told him what brand I used he immediately said "switch him" - apparently that brand of dog food is known not to digest in some dogs. Luckily I had received my Drs. Foster and Smith dog food the day before as a friend had recommended it. We are now on week #2 and no more vomiting ! Thank you Drs. Foster & Smith!! My vet has had no one apparently use Drs. Foster & Smith, so he is very interested in the outcome and he will shortly know how good the results are!

I purchased a show quality Rottweiler from a well known ethical breeder. I had already given up on my pup since he looked more like a Doberman, except that he has a nice Rottie head . In the past, my dog Fred would only eat his food if I added real chicken and rice to it. I knew there had to be a better way than all the trouble I was going through. I ordered Drs. My dog Buddy (Chihuahua/Chiwawa), loves the Chicken and Brown Rice. I had been looking for a dry dog food that he likes, especially small bite size for small dogs. He loves Drs. I have a very finicky Mastiff. It took us three different brands of dog food to figure out what we want for him and of course what HE wants. I always had to mix his dry food with some chicken or cheese or tuna, and even then he took a few licks and that was it. I was getting worried because he wasn't gaining enough weight. I ordered Drs. My Pit Bull/Red Heeler has been eating Drs. Foster & Smith food for about two months now and I can already notice a BIG difference in her coat. It has become very shiny, soft and thick. My 2yr old westie was a very sick puppy, which has resulted in a very sensitive stomach. We have tried the "healthy" foods and she just didn't seem satisfied with any of them. My papillon, Linda, was diagnosed with cancer in 2004. The main symptom we had before the diagnosis was a complete refusal to eat anything, even hamburger or other 'people' food. We tried everything and eventually found Drs. Foster and Smith dog food. The kibbles are small enough for a very small breed to easily eat and apparently it is very tasty because she ate it! And she kept eating it for 2 years. I am completely convinced that this healthy, tasty food gave me two and a half more precious years with Linda. Moreover, since she and my two new dogs were eating it, rather than the other brand I had been feeding them that was involved in the recall, all my pets were safe from tainted foods. A few months ago we adopted a large mixed breed dog. He was very skinny and had the worst shedding problem I had ever seen. I tried other quality brand dog foods, but was not seeing an improvement. A friend recommended this website, so I decided to purchase some food. It has been just over a month now since he (and all my other dogs) have been on this food, and the difference is amazing! He's put on weight and looks full and healthy. He's far more energetic than he was in the past, and his shedding has almost completely stopped! Our lab/weimaraner mix was having diarrhea with several different brands of dog food so we tried Drs. Foster and Smith Chicken & Rice formula. He has been on it for a month and has had no more diarrhea and seems to like it much better than the other foods. We also have a ferret that we switched to Drs. Foster & Smith food. He really likes it and his stools are much firmer than with other commercial brands.

I have a one year old Cocker Spaniel. A few months ago, I came across information concerning byproducts in dog food. It prompted me to research the "good" food I was feeding him. I have raised 11 Pomeraneans over the last 10 years, so you know I have been through different foods trying to find the one they will eat. They will eat the food for awhile and then they don't want it anymore. They have been put on the best food, such as, Iams and Science Diet, and have also been fed Kibbles and Bits. They are very picky eaters. Chicken and vegetables is their favorite and I have found it very hard to find that particular flavor. I couldn't find it anymore after awhile. The makers of dog food would either baste or roast the kibbles and they didn't like it. Now, I am down to 3 adult Pomeraneans. I thought, oh boy, Doctors Foster and Smith has just what I have been looking for. Chicken and vegetables. Perfect! So, I bought a small bag just to see if they liked it. They love it! I don't have a problem getting them to eat now.

My dog (a Brussels Griffon) is extremely finicky, and we went through several brands of dog foods to find one she would eat. Even then we had to mix it with canned dog food in order to get her to even touch the stuff. I hesitated to buy Dr Foster & Smith dogfood, because they did not offer a trial size "taste test" package and I figured it would be a waste of money for a 6 lb bag. I would only need a handful to know that my dog would not eat it. Boy was I wrong! This is the ONLY brand of dog food that my dog will eat DRY. I still mix it with chicken or canned foods to make special meals, but I can leave a bowl of dry food down for self feeding. Amazing!

We have always tried to provide our dogs and cats with good nutrition. Despite trying numerous premium products, our half Shih Tzu half toy poodle mix always had a very dull, lifeless coat. 2 of my elderly cats matted horribly. We just recently started feeding the chicken and rice adult dog food and cat food. In about 6 weeks' time the changes in our pets' coats is dramatic. Boomer, our Shihpoo, now has a soft and shiny coat. The cats have never had such glorious coats. Our golden retriever now has a full, lush coat that glistens. My dog had started getting sick every couple days. I took him to the vet and nothing was wrong. They suggested a change in dog food. Frantic about the info that we have been given lately concerning dog foods, I looked to Drs. Foster & Smith. Their food had the best ingredients and actually contained meat. My dog loved it and turned around very quickly with his digestive issues. My 5-year-old boy has lost weight and now plays and runs like a pup again. He feels great...you can just see it in him. Quite a different dog from before the change in food. Sure, you're going to pay a little more with this food, but I highly recommend it. It's worth it!

Our 7-year old Labrador developed a tumor last year. After a successful surgery, we decided to try a more "holistic" diet for her. This food is the BEST. I have two Basset Hounds, both rescues, and one has digestion problems. three years ago I actually had to cook chicken rice and green beans for him, just to keep him from vomiting his food. After trying Drs Foster & Smith Chicken and Rice formula, I won't give them anything else. I no longer have to cook for Jack, and Molly loves it too. The best part is, we had it shipped to our door in California and then two years ago relocated to central New York and it still arrives at my door.
