Feeding Guidelines

*Use a standard 8 oz. liquid measuring cup. An 8 oz. cup = 3.7 oz. by weight.

For weight control, your cat’s requirements may vary from the feeding guide. Weigh your cat monthly, consult with your veterinarian and adjust quantities as necessary to maintain optimal weight. When in ideal body condition, your cat should have a slight waist behind the ribs when viewed from above. Divide daily food amount into 3 or more equal portions, Ideally, your cat should lose between 0.5 and 2.0% of total body weight per week. Healthy weight loss for your cat is best achieved under the direction of a veterinarian.

If feeding Drs. Foster and Smith cat food for the first time, gradually adjust your cat’s current diet to avoid stomach upset. Mix 1/4 part Drs. Foster and Smith food with current food for 2-3 days. Gradually increase the new food and decrease current food over 7-10 days until you are feeding all Drs. Foster and Smith food.

Keep fresh drinking water available at all times.
