Turboflotor Skimmers 1000 Multi
Three years experience and performing excellently
I have my Turbo-flotor hanging on the back of a six year old five foot 125 gallon mixed reef tank. I had a previously brand which had me adjusting it multiple times daily. This skimmer sucks our about 3/4" to 1" of black water per day into the 20z collection cup. There is an initial break in time with an extension of the skimmer neck to install. When the skimmer breaks in it is plug and play and believe me it sure does play. My water is so clean with 10% weekly water changes my Tomato clowns have been laying eggs regularly. I have five bubble tip and one True Carpet Anemone and they like the clean water. I also have 200 lbs of live rock with two 3,250 gph circulation pumps and two canisters each rated up to a 265 gallon tank.
I do have a wet skim break in when I install my two 40 oz Chemi-Pure Grandes in the canisters which last about two hours and makes me empty the collection cup two and a half fills. After this the skimmer is back to normal which I consider not a problem at all. I installed my new Chemi-Pure two weeks ago and the skimmer has been back to 3/4" to 1" of black water per day with no adjustment necessary.

Best skimmer I ever used
I've tried many skimmers before -- and never had results half as good as what the Turboflotor provides. It's easy to set up and there is no adjustment needed -- EVER! Just clean out the dark gunk from the cup and watch your fish thrive. I use one on my 180g and my 125g in the sump area of my wet/dry filters. I recommend attaching a couple of PVC down spouts made out of 3/4 pipe and elbows to reduce the noise of the water returns. Other than that no bubbles escape the reaction chamber, and the skimmer simply does a great job.
If you catch this when it goes on sale -- even better, buts its worth the money at full price.

Expensive, useless mess maker
I bought this last year while gathering all the things I wanted for my reef tank, August 2011. Now my reef tank has been up since last week Thursday. Here is my experience so far. Using the blue flow restrictor the cup fills in thirty seconds, no good. Changing over to the black flow restrictor it overflows in ten minutes. The pump is in a sump chamber which maintains its level. The two flow knobs are wide open and still the unit overflows..... Reading about similar problems online with no apparent fix. This unit does not have enough adjustability designed in to work on my system and it now resides in the garbage can after smashing it on the floor. AVOID this expensive poorly designed skimmer at all cost. What a frustrating mess this has been.
