Tips About Perches
Birds spend the majority of their time standing on their feet, so good perches are essential. Just as you prefer a comfortable pair of shoes, birds need comfortable perches. Birds also use perches to rub their beaks on to remove pieces of food. An ideal perch is easily cleaned, comfortable to the bird, and of the proper material and diameter to prevent foot problems. Perches may be stationary or swinging. All cage items, including perches, should be selected knowing that birds like to chew, shred, and destroy things; and therefore, items will often need to be replaced.

I have a cockatiel named Eddie, and I put a safety perch in his cage. I tried to take him out, but he loved his perch so much, he didn't want to come out!!!!! This product is great!!!!!
I have an African Grey that we went through so many perches with, she didn't like anything. Until this perch. She just turned three years old and has had only two nails trimmed EVER!!
My Cockatiels love this perch. I turn the perch so that the flat part is the part that they stand on. It gives them a break from always having to curl their toes to perch. I know the perch is designed to be used with the curved side resting under their feet, but they seem to prefer it flat. Give it a try and see which way your birdies prefer!
Like us, birds must have their nails trimmed as part of a regular grooming program. Overgrown nails make perching difficult, as well as increase the chance of catching a nail on carpet or sweaters.
Beak care is critical for the overall health of your bird. Fortunately, with the variety of products on the market made specifically for caged birds, you can ensure your bird is getting all the nutrients she needs and be aware of any problems.
Mineral treats offer entertainment, boredom prevention, constructive activity, and beak conditioning. A variety of mineral-based treats are sure to please your bird.
Providing the variety of perches your bird needs is easy and inexpensive. A wide range of perches is available commercially, and you can also fashion a number of suitable perches from natural materials.
