Rated 1 out of 5 by Koislave Pond Acid Buffer didn't work as expected
My 2000 gallon concrete pond that is coated with epoxy Pond Armor exhibits high pH (8 to 9) apparently due to concrete leaching through pin holes in the epoxy. It would not respond permanently to any treatment. I had been using HCl to lower pH and baking soda to elevate kH to about 120 or so. I consulted with F&S and also with the Pond Acid Buffer manufacturer; both recommended this product. I added 4 liters to the pond prior to introducing the first koi. It lowered the pH only slightly for 24 hours then the pH went back up to 8.5 to 9.0. It also lowered my kH to about 90 which wasn't desirable since my mechanical filter needs a higher kH. Considering the ridiculous price and poor efficacy of this product I don't plan to ever use it again. HCL and baking soda seem to work better. I have introduced 3 koi and they are doing fine with the pH at about 8.5 to 9.

I used 2 bottles of pond acid buffer in my 750 gallon pond over 4 or 5 days and I checked pH morning and evening. The pH never went down from 9+. I am still looking for a way to reduce pH in my pond.
