Rechargeable chemical filter media for extended aquarium use |
A blend of natural and synthetic ion exchange resins that selectively remove ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. In new aquariums, Nitra-Zorb controls the level of toxic ammonia and nitrite during initial development of the biological filter. In established aquariums, it helps control sudden surges in ammonia and nitrite caused by the addition of new fish, or anytime ammonia or nitrite is detected. 128 grams. For use in freshwater aquariums. Use one 128 gram pouch of Nitra-Zorb per 55 gallons of water.

Directions for use
- Remove Nitra-Zorb pouch from plastic bag. NOTE: Do not open Nitra-Zorb pouch.
- Rinse Nitra-Zorb pouch under tap water to remove any dust.
- Place Nitra-Zorb filter pouch in filtration basket of Rena FilStar or any other canister filter.
- Recharge Nitra-Zorb pouch every 5 days until safe nitrate levels are reached. Then, recharge every 2 weeks to maintain best performance.
- Replace Nitra-Zorb pouch every 1 to 3 months, depending on stocking density and water quality.
Recharging Nitra-Zorb
Nitra-Zorb can be easily recharged in a warm salt solution.
- Dissolve 4 tablespoons of non-iodized salt in 8 ounces of warm tap water (approximately 120°F).
- Soak the pouch for at least 2 hours and rinse lightly in tap water before re-use.
Note: Nitra-Zorb will gradually become fouled with organic matter, and therefore should be replaced when performance declines. |
| 1. Mechanical | | Mechanical filtration can greatly improve the health of most aquariums, and is also important for the efficiency of your biological filtration. The process is simple: mechanical media strains solid debris. |
| | 2. Biological | | Biological filtration is the action of bacteria breaking down dangerous ammonia, converting it to nitrite, and then converting nitrite to less toxic nitrate. This article discusses how the process works. |
| | 3. Chemical | | While most aquarists agree biological filtration is imperative for your aquarium's health, not all agree that mechanical and chemical filtration is absolutely necessary. |
| | Combination Chemical Filter Media | | Aquarium filter media are usually grouped into three basic categories: mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration. Hybrid filter media are becoming more common as aquarium hobbyists expect more from their equipment and filter media. |
