| Turbo-Venturi Injector System mixes filtered water and air in the pump impeller chamber, creating a froth of micro-bubbles for maximum skimming efficiency and improved gas exchange.
Vortex Reaction Chamber swirls air and water up into the smaller "tornado" tube, drawing organic wastes from the water.
Concentration Tube propels protein-laden bubbles in the spiraling air/water mixture into the collection tube above. Bubbles then burst, forming a frothy solution that gathers in the collection chamber.
Large Capacity Collection Chamber holds dissolved organic compounds, keeping this waste separate from clean water until it can be removed for emptying.
Assembly/Operation Instructions
Before you begin installation, unpack and inspect all parts. Rinse skimmer body and pump parts that will come into contact with water. Use clean, fresh water - no soap or cleansers of any kind.
Hang-On Installation
Note: For hang-on installation, four inches of clearance is required between aquarium and wall.
STEP 1:
Insert elbow end of Skimmer J-Tube into Skimmer Intake Port at base of SeaClone unit. Turn Coupling Lock clockwise to secure Skimmer Tube in place.
STEP 2:
Attach Air Valve and red Air Line Connector to end of Air Line. Thread opposite end of Air Line through hole in Foam Cartridge and insert end into Turbo-Venturi Intake Connector.
STEP 3:
Slide Turbo-Venturi Intake Connector (with attached air tube) into Maxi-Jet Pump Intake. Slide Foam Cartridge over Turbo-Ventruri Connector.
STEP 4:
Fit overhang end of Skimmer J-Tube over Maxi-Jet Pump Outlet. Turn Coupling Lock clockwise to secure Skimmer Tube in place.
STEP 5:
Secure Air Line to clip side of SeaClone unit.
STEP 6:
Attach Pump/Turbo-Venturi Assembly in desired location. Note: A triple suction cup mount can be used to attach the pump to the inside of the aquarium.
*For best results, locate the Maxi-Jet Pump at a depth of about 2-3" beneath the aquarium water line.
In-Sump Installation
Note: For in-sump installation, the SeaClone 100 requires at least 20 inches of over head clearance. The SeaClone 150 requires at least 27 inches of clearance.
Additional Note: The J-Tube Assembly is not used for in-sump installation.
STEP 1:
Attach Air Valve and red Air Line Connector to end of Air Line. Thread opposite end of Air Line through hole in Foam Cartridge and insert end into Turbo-Venturi Intake Connector.
STEP 2:
Slide Turbo-Venturi Intake Connector (with attached air tube) into Maxi-Jet Pump Intake. Slide Foam Cartridge over Turbo-Ventruri Connector.
STEP 3:
Insert Maxi-Jet Pump Outlet into Skimmer Intake Port at base of SeaClone unit.
STEP 4:
Place assembled SeaClone unit in sump.
STEP 5:
Secure Air Line to clip on side of SeaClone unit.
Note: Air Valve must be kept out of water at all times. If splashing water is a problem, position the Return Spout near the highest sump wall so that cascading water flows down the wall of the sump.
Flow Adjustment
After SeaClone is first plugged in, unscrew and remove the top portion of the Turbo-Venturi Air Valve. This facilitates maximum air intake and minimum water flow (approximately 50 gph).
To achieve optimal performance, reconnect the top and screw it all the way down (close). Unscrew (open) top approximately 3/4 to 1-1/2 turns depending on pump location and water level.
Important adjustment note: Too much or too little air will affect water flow and may cause bubbles to flow back into the aquarium. Minimal periodic adjustments may be needed due to variance in organic loads within the aquarium.
NOTE: The SeaClone Protein Skimmer may require a two or three day "break-in" period before significant buildup and collection of proteins and organics occur. If the aquarium is new, it may take even longer.
Maintenance
- Clean Foam Cartridge weekly, or whenever it becomes dirty or clogged.
- Regularly empty and clean the Collection Cup. After emptying the Collection Cup, thoroughly clean the Riser Tube. Note: Clean Collection Cup and Riser Tube with clear, clean water only- never use soap or cleansers of any kind.
- Check O-ring at top juncture of Collection Cup and Vortex Reaction Chamber.
- Check Skimmer J-Tube O-ring. Lubricate regularly with silicon lubricant to ensure suppleness and snug fit.
