Recreates water conditions necessary to successfully keep Discus
Recreate ideal water conditions necessary to successfully keep Discus. Lowers pH and softens water by precipitating dissolved solids such as calcium, magnesium, and other metals. Very strong and stable buffering system maintains low pH level. Use with
Neutral Regulator in fixed ratios to achieve a pH level between 5.8 - 6.8, depending on the amount used. 250 grams treats approximately 800 gallons.

General Information:
Discus Buffer helps replicate the ideal water conditions for Discus, low pH and low GH (General Hardness). Discus Buffer will lower pH and keep it lowered. Discus Buffer will also soften water by precipitating calcium and magnesium. Use Discus Trace to restore the proper level of trace elements required by thriving, healthy Discus.
Directions for Use:
Use 1 level teaspoon (5 g) for every 10 gallons daily until intended pH is reached. Thereafter, use once a month or with water changes as required to maintain pH.
To raise pH, use Neutral Regulator. To target a particular pH, use Discus Buffer in combination with Neutral Regulator following the chart below. This chart assumes the use of un-buffered water (RO or DI). If water is already buffered, use the chart below as a starting guide.
Use these ratios to target your desired pH level.

Maintaining ideal water parameters is the single most important factor in successfully keeping Discus. We used reverse osmosis water and Discus Buffer to help maintain the low pH Discus prefer.
Many freshwater community fish thrive in a broad pH range between slightly acidic (6.5) to slightly alkalic (7.5). To provide their ideal water conditions, you must learn how to make adjustments to your aquarium water using pH conditioners.
The graceful, stately Discus is a joy to behold. Bred in captivity since the early 1960s, the many varieties of these beautiful fish are prized for their bright and intricate color schemes by freshwater aquarists around the world.
To best fulfill the needs of these beautiful, intelligent, and territorial fish, we designed the caves and nooks to create a healthy, secure African lake biotope.
Bacterial additives establish a healthy population of beneficial bacteria that efficiently break down ammonia into nitrite and then to nitrate. The use of bacterial additives is most commonly associated with the initial set up of an aquarium.
