the Aquafuge ll is amazing! About ten days after running Aquafuge Refugium on my heavily planted freshwater planted tank. The algae has gone away and the nitrate level has dropped to 0. I recommend this for people that do not have a drilled aquarium.Works great.

I like the design and it works well. The black backing ensures that extra light does not spill into the aquarium and it cannot be seen. The inflow has a baffle so it does not disturb the substrate. It is deep enough for a good amount of substrate and plants/live rock. The gravity outflow spills over nicely, some agitation without splashing. Downfall is if the level of the water must stay quite high to make this happen. The baffle before the outflow ensures no plants will fall back into the aquarium. It has only been running two weeks but no leaks and appears to be running well. I would get a LED light to put over it instead of the one that they sell for it.

I was skeptical at first of hang on back refugium's in general. After doing a TON of research I decided to purchase the CPR hang on back refugium for my SPS and LPS 20 gallon frag tank. I couldn't be happier! Very well put together and works fantastic. I dropped in a bit of refugium rubble, live sand, and some macro algae and have had perfect water parameters ever since.
