Getting Started
- Remove parts from box (base unit, motorized column, plastic wand, and feather toy attachment).
- Install (3) AA batteries, not included, in battery box of base unit. Use thumbnail to remove battery box cover. Push in batteries, ensuring correct polarity of batteries +/- in box. (Do not mix battery types.)
- Open the four stabilizer bars at the bottom of the base unit by gently lifting the stabilizer bars over the rubber skid feet. While looking at the bottom of the base unit, rotate bars counterclockwise and lock into place.
- Connect motorized column to base unit. Locate the pointed arrow on the bottom edge of the column and line up with the large slot on the base unit. Turn column clockwise and lock into place.
- Unclasp the closure on the feather toy attachment with wire extension and hook between the two round balls on the plastic wand. Securely re-clasp closure.
- Slide plastic wand with feather toy attachment onto column wire. Check to be sure it is securely attached.
Time to Play
- Familiarize yourself with the simple controls on the base unit of the Pure Commotion:
a.Timer (left side)
b.Speed Control (middle)
c.On/Off (right side)
- Push the On/Off button to start the movement. Pushing the On button one time will result in continual movement. (Use the Timer button to limit the time to a pre-set number of minutes).
- Push the Timer button to control duration of play. The toy can be programmed for 15 minutes up to 2 hours of continuous play. To set play duration, push the Timer button once for 15 minutes, twice for 30 minutes, etc., up to 8 times for 2 hours of play. To reset the Timer, press the On/Off button.
- Turn the Speed Control dial clockwise to increase wand speed and counterclockwise to decrease speed.
Playtime Hints
To maximize your cat's experience with the Pure Commotion toy, use the following helpful hints.
- Begin by introducing your cat to the feather toy attachment by dangling it in front of your cat before attaching it to the Pure Commotion toy. Let your cat smell the feathers and familiarize itself with the toy.
- Cats love unpredictable movement (it's how prey moves in the wild). Experiment with the speed control dial to determine what kind of movement your cat responds to best.
- While supervision is always recommended with any cat toy, some cats will play more aggressively if they think they are alone. If your cat fits into this category, leave the room and peek around the corner to keep an eye on the fun.
- Watch the action get certifiably insane by storing the feather attachment in catnip when not in use.
