Powerful, compact LED system expands coral keeping options for nano aquariums. The Aqua Illumination (AI) Nano Touch Controlled LED System delivers serious light output as the world's smallest reef-capable LED fixture. The exclusive use of white Cree XP-L and blue/royal blue XP-E series LEDs mounted in a pair of specially designed 5-in-1 lenses create a lighting environment where LPS and SPS corals flourish. Smart design offers reef hobbyists with advanced LED conveniences that fit in the palm of their hands!
AI Nano Touch Controlled LED System embraces the latest technologies with a forward-thinking design that accommodates future upgrades. LED settings including intensity control is easily changed manually by means of a built-in touch sensitive controller. For even greater options, use with the AI LED System Controller (sold separately) to automate everything you want from basic on/off timer functions to simulating thunderstorms and lunar cycles. The AI Nano is also compatible with many popular aquarium controllers.
To allow optimal placement of your AI Nano, use the optional 3" x 12-1/2" Mounting Bracket (sold separately). Included mounting screws allow convenient attachment directly to your glass or acrylic aquarium. Use the optional EXT Hanging Kit (sold separately) for a hanging installation. The AI Nano Touch Controlled LED System measures 4.28" x 5.57" x 1.47" High.
The versatile Aqua Illumination Nano Touch Controlled LED System offers superior lighting options for nano reef aquariums. For larger coral reef aquariums, use the AI Nano in conjunction with the
AI Sol, the ultimate in aquarium LED lighting. When used together, the compact AI Nano is a powerful LED spotlight that brilliantly boosts light levels in specific regions requiring more light.

Quick Start Guide
- Insert one end of the AC power cord into the power supply.
- Plug the AC power cord into an outlet. The green LED on the power supply should illuminate.
- Plug the power supply DC power jack into the center jack on the AI Nano.
- The LEDs will slowly brighten, reaching 100% intensity in a few seconds.
Warning: Do not place the AI Nano Touch Controlled LED System flat on a table. This may cause overheating and damage to the unit. There should always be at least three inches of clearance from the LEDs to any surface.
Using the Built-in Controllerr
The built-in controller allows you to manually change the light levels and to save those levels so they can be restored the next time you power up the AI Nano. The AI Nano uses a touch panel that requires very little pressure. Simply touch the panel with one finger and release to use the controller.
Using the AI LED System Controller
The AI Nano is fully compatible with the AI LED System Controller. You can plug the AI Controller's Data Cable into either the left or right Data Cable Jack on the AI Nano. You can also daisy-chain multiple AI Nanos by coupling units together with more Data Cables. When the AI Controller is plugged into the AI Nano, the Touch Panel will be automatically disabled to prevent interference with the controller's timer programs.
Changing Light Levels
- Touch and release either the Upper or Lower Button. The LEDs will flash either White or Blue, indicating which LED color will be changed by the Slider.
- Slide your finger across the Slide Bar. The LED color will increase or decrease in intensity depending on the direction you slide your finger. You can also touch and release the Slider at any position to set a specific intensity.
- To change colors, touch and release either Button.
Saving Light Levels
- Set the Blue and White intensities to the desired levels as described above.
- Leave the light levels set at the desired position for a minimum of 15 seconds.
- Disconnect the power or utilize third party timer to disconnect power from unit.
- The next time you power up your AI Nano, the saved intensities will be restored.
AI LED System Controller
The AI Controller gives you a way to automate the operation of your new lighting module to perform everything you want it to, from basic on/off timer functions to simulating thunderstorms and lunar cycles.
- Auto or Manual - Auto Mode lets you set timers and ramp periods. Manual Mode turns off all timers and lets you control everything.
- Extensive Control - The AI-Controller allows you to set up to 14 independent timers to determine desired light intensities at any given time of day or night. The Ramp Period option within the timers lets you set how many minutes it takes for your LED light to arrive at your desired intensities; it can change fast or over a designated period of time.
- Lunar Lighting - Without even having to schedule appropriate lunar cycles, the AI Controller changes the lighting based off of the lunar cycle on its own. Once you set the clock within the Controller, it will change intensities according to the moon's phases.
- Thunderstorms - The AI Controller allows you to create the exciting experience of thunderstorms in your aquarium. You can either set a percentage chance of thunderstorms per day, or even choose the number of storms you would like per day (1-5). Once a storm begins, lightening flashes will occur at different intensities and rates for 30 minutes.
- Upgradeability - Aqua Illumination will update the firmware in your controller from time to time to improve current functions or add new features. The model features a USB port for firmware upgrades, providing you quick and easy access to the latest features.

Frequently Asked Questions
| Q. |
How do I install my AI Nano using the Mounting Arm? |
| A. |
The Mounting Arm is designed to be attached directly to your glass or acrylic aquarium. As all aquariums are different, some applications may require trimming, bracing, shimming or other slight modification for the Mounting Arm to fit properly on your tank. Additionally, your AI Nano can be hung by any custom installation you can think of as long as you leave a minimum of a 1" gap above the fixture to ensure proper airflow.
|
| Q. |
Why the AI Nano instead of a screw in type [LED] fixture? |
| A. |
The AI Nano has evolved out of the AI team's years of experience designing aquarium-only LED lighting. By focusing on the details, the AI Nano is designed to pack a powerful punch in as small a package as possible. Utilizing optics designed in-house to more efficiently and effectively delivers light to the areas your corals need most, Cree XP-E blue and royal blue LED's complement the Cree XM-L white LEDs. This makes them capable of delivering performance never before thought possible from a light this size. You can adjust the color temperature and intensity with the built-in touch-control system, or plug the AI Nano into the AI LED System Controller for 24-hour timers, thunderstorm functions and more.
|
| Q. |
How much power does the AI Nano draw? |
| A. |
At full intensity, AI Nano draws an efficient 36 total watt from the wall.

| The Benefits of Lunar Lights | | The time a reef spends under moonlight is believed to be as significant as the time spent in full daylight. Moonlight promotes both internal and external activity among the many thousands of reef organisms. |
| | Functional Nocturnal Lighting | | Many aquatic species come alive at night. In the wild, moonlight triggers an array of biological activities. Whether you've got a freshwater, marine fish-only-with-live-rock, or reef aquarium, use nocturnal lights to illuminate nighttime behavior. |
| | High Tech Trends in the Aquarium Hobby | | Advances in technology are often assimilated and quickly incorporated into the aquarium hobby. This allows aquarists to take the hobby into a new and interesting frontier that was once impossible without the aid of these devices. |
| | Lighting Overview | | An important component of an aquarium that often gets overlooked is lighting. This article gives a basic description of available aquarium lighting systems. |
