Fluval Q1 and Q2 Air Pumps Q1 (Mfg# A-850)
Hard to improve on excellence
I'm using the Fluval Q2 in my 75 gal tank.
I installed the air pump 2 wks ago and am running a 36" combo.
LED/Bubble Curtain. This product is so incredibly quite that it can't
be heard from even inches away! I'm only using half it's full capacity.
Amazing piece of equipment!

Sleek design but def not "ultra-quiet"
I am impressed with the design and overall look of this air pump. It is by far the best looking air pump I have owned. You don't want this to be hidden in a cabinet...BUT...if it WAS in a cabinet it would be quieter. I have a Fluval 406 canister filter running six inches away from it and this air pump is at minimum, twice as loud as the canister filter. I have had people over to show off the Fluval 406 and I actually unplug the Fluval Q1 to show them how eerily silent the 406 is. It also seems like a waste of energy to pump out air to two connections when I only need one running right now. There is no way to shut one off and only have air pump out of the other. And it doesn't come with a plug to stop up the other side either(though that would probably hurt the pump anyway) I wish they had something to switch off one side or the other.

At first, I thought this was going to be a great pump. It pumped more than enough air, was fairly quiet, and had almost no vibration. After a couple of weeks, however, the output started slowing down, and after another week, it wouldn't pump any air through an unrestricted air line (no air stone, just an open line) at a water depth of more than 3 inches. A new diaphragm kit would probably have fixed it, but the pump was only three weeks old! I didn't bother to return it, just tossed it in the trash can. I believe Fluval needs to address quality issues on this product. Poor quality products such as this will ultimately hurt their reputation and reduce profitability. I do NOT recommend this product!
