BlowHole Pump Model 2700 (Mfg# BH2700)
great little pump
I am using this pump to boost water flow for monitering equipment on a long run from a cooling tower to the monitering equipment over 60 yards both ways with a 8 foot head works like a champ and is way quieter than the "industrial" style pump we replaced. Not what it was intended for but it works great. I would recommend this pump to anybody.

I use this as my return pump for my 60 gallon reef tank. due to my setup the pump has to push thru two check valves and plumbing that has a lot of elbows. I use it at the second setting and it works great, very very quiet. Only issue is that it has to be kept dry, I ended up putting a towel on top of it. It increased my water temperature about 1-2 degrees. It is heavy , feels durable and high quality. Overall best return pump I have used so far.

Very quiet with a really nifty option to adjust the flow with a switch. Small size is great too. Needs an elbow on the discharge to pump up to tank but not a biggie.

Starts out great but...
This pump starts out great it's quite, powerful, and sips electricity. The problems start after a couple of months of use. There is a screw that needs to be removed and and cleaned every few weeks. Even making sure you do this (I would say mandatory bi-weekly) maintenance the pump flow slowly declines and the motor starts to run VERY hot. (or in one instance the motor completely shorted out) I have now gone through three of these pumps in 6 months. I will say Reef Flo are amazing and Chris in their CS department is a true professional. It's just that this pump is not in it for the long haul. I wish it were. I raved about this pumps power and efficiency when I first put it on my system. It is whisper silent you cannot hear this pump run, so perfect for those of us with reefs in family rooms. It moves water through massive head pressure. But in the end this pump is a sprinter where we need a marathon ready pump that can be relied on for years not months of service.
