I just started using suet this year. I was strictly seed and Hummer nectar till now. We have been blessed with the variety of wild birds that come to our feeders. This year, I purchased a new feeder with seed cake cages on the ends. Out of curiosity I bought some seed cakes, including a few suet cakes to try out. They were really popular with some of the birds, especially the woodpeckers, but the real prize was regular visits by Orioles. They seem to love the Fruit and Veggie Plus suet cakes.

This time the cakes were broken in pieces but the birds dont seem to care- we scrunch them together-fill the feeder and away they go.

I've purchased the blueberry, apple and cherry. While my wildlife of squirrels, woodpeckers and other birds enjoy all the flavors; the cherry seems to be everyone's favorite. They were hesitant to eat the cherry at first. In southeast Texas; cherries aren't native but now they've all developed a taste for this treat; especially the woodpeckers.
