Fish Mate P7000 as raccoon proof cat feeder
I set this pond feeder up as part of a raccoon proof cat feeder six weeks ago and it is working perfectly!
I needed to feed my feral cat while I was away on a six week trip so I purchased this pond feeder after reading all the poor reviews on the many cat/pet feeders (most of them much more expensive).
I installed the feeder inside a metal garbage can that I'd cut a hole in the side to extend the pond feeder spout through.
I mounted the garbage can on a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood with three large mug hooks holding the handle, a block of wood under the can to support the weight and a strap around to secure the can against the plywood.
I then ran an expandable aluminum drain from the feeder spout down to the pie pan from which the cat eats and attached the drain to the plywood with a couple of pieces of metal strapping.
Finally I attached the plywood to my house with a couple of screws in a protected location (the garbage can lid protects the feeder but not the food bowl).
I had to cancel my trip so I've been able to observe how well this feeder has worked. It has been completely reliable, dispensing 1/2 cup of food every morning.
There are program options for multiple feedings but I only used one. There is no wiring to mess with nor cause program errors if you have a loss of electricity as the feeder uses four C cell batteries.
I did set it up with a 24 hour clock as someone else suggested...very easy. Also #6 equals about 1/2 cup.

Reliable &Uncomplicated
I've used several automatic Koi feeders in the past but this one is the only one I've come to trust. It's durable, easily programmed and works in all weather conditions. It allows for extended trips away from home because the reservoir accomodates a large volume of food. By far the best automatic feeder, I've come across....

Great Unit
Unit works well, and has been keeping my pond fish happy and full while we have been on vacation.
Initial programming is a bit weird, but once you figure it out, it's set it and forget it.
