Fluval C-Series Power Filters C2
Fluval C4 power filter - like it
I was using a canister filter which I loved, but it stopped working so I needed an alternative. I had a backup power filter for such instances, but I wanted something a little better and quieter than the highly praised one I had. This Fluval 5-stage filtration system is way cool. The water fall is so quiet compared to any other power filters I've used. I like that each type of media has their own compartments. I was used to using carbon-like substance along with zeolite ammonia remover and phosphate/silicate absorbing media. So I substituted the carbon that comes with this unit with one, also offered by Drs Foster and Smith, that has all ingredients in one pouch which perfectly fits in the same basket. I really like that a small clean water fountain flow goes directly over the biological media basket separately from the the rest of the flow through media (polyfoam and chemical). The only noise I hear is the motor, which isn't all that annoying, but I see from other reviews a small amount of Vaseline can be applied to stop the noise. I'll have to remember to try that next time I service it. I was able to use a portion of my old biological media with the new. I had no untoward affects with the water parameters in the change over to the new filter. My fish are indeed happy and me too.

Great compact multistage filter!
This is one of the more expensive HOB filters, however, it looks and feels like great quality. This little filter has the characteristics of being a canister filter with 5 stage filtration! Love the fact that I can control the water flow and aerates the water really well too, my corals and fish are happy as could be. I had been using emperor filters because of their good ratings too and the idea of the bio wheel, but I thought i'd try this guy, best investment, you won't regret it(I mean, its fluval, a well trusted brand)

Fluval C-Series Filters
I bought one of these based on the reviews I read. I like the fact you have the option with your flow rate, to use chemical filtration if you want. It is quite long as your water level is up. It keeps my water nice and clear.

very efficient filter
Very efficient filter. Im using on a 29 gallon. If using for a saltwater, you don't need to buy extra media. Rinse in tank water when red button rises. Trust me if you change it, it could be a disaster(2 clowns died) Ammonia nodes are also not necessary for saltwater. Jury still out on carbon. Water stays clear despite sand sifting doby
