Zoo Med Aquasun Controller

Automate aquarium functions at a hobby-friendly price. Zoo Med Laboratories Aquasun Controller does double duty as a grounded, eight-outlet power strip or programmable timer. Convenient Timer Bypass Switch allows simple manual control. Choose power strip mode (all eight outlets receive continuous power) or timer mode (four timer controlled and four continuous power outlets) to suit your aquarium needs. Use with aquarium light fixtures to customize 24-hour day and night light cycle for your fish. Easy-to-set analog timer features grounded outlets, safety reset button and a three-prong plug for operational safety. The Zoo Med Laboratories Aquasun Controller is UL-Listed and is rated for 15 amps/1,000 Watts.

Setting the Time of Day
The arrow on the face of the timer indicates the time of day. To set the time, rotate the dial until the arrow is pointing at the correct time.

Program the Timer
To program the timer: Push the black Tabs down adjacent to the times that you would like the lights (and other timed devices) to be on. Each tab represents 15 minutes (Example: If you want the lamps to turn on at 8AM and turn off at 6PM, push all of the black tabs down between the numbers 8AM and 6PM. This will provide 10 hours daytime photoperiod for your aquarium fish). The timer can be used to control lights, wavemakers, air pumps and other aquarium devices.

Set the Red Bypass Switch to Timer
To enable the timer function for the four timed outlets, be sure to slide the red switch on the side of the timer down to the "Timer On" setting. To bypass the timer, slide the switch up to the "Outlet On" setting. In this setting, all eight outlets receive continuous power and the device acts like a normal power strip. Push it back down to "Timer On" setting to resume normal function on the four timed outlets.

Plug the AquaSun Aquarium Controller into a grounded GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet
The timer will only operate when plugged in. In the event of a power outage, the time of day will need to be reset. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this timer has a three-prong plug and must be plugged into a grounded three-prong receptacle. The receptacle must also be GFCI protected. If you are unsure about the electrical supply and connection, contact a qualified electrician.

Drip Loop
The AquaSun Aquarium Controller must incorporate a "drip loop." The drip loop will prevent water from running along the power cord and getting the device or wall receptacle wet. To create a drip loop, be sure that a portion of the power cord is lower than the level of the controller and wall receptacle. If for any reason, the plug or wall receptacle gets wet, do not grasp or unplug the power cord until the power has been switched off at the main fuse or circuit breaker.
