This feeder could be improved. The blue top is pretty, but we put a clear top of the same design on to make it less obtrusive in our setting. The cage is formed in a circle and I couldn't do a better job with the same cage material myself, but it is not "round" per se and that makes fitting the top back on with the four nubs a bit difficult. Sliding the washers (rubber and metal) off require some care. On our deck, we have to be careful with the metal washer and S hook. The rubber washer stays on, but when you lay the chain down, the metal washer usually comes off. Most bird feeders only requite you to open them up and reload. This one involved a little more care. Our Bluebirds are not too keen on going in at this point. The opening of the squares is 1 1/2 inches and that should be enough, but I clipped a couple of the wires and spread them just a bit to see if we can't entice them in. It's an ok feeder, but I would not buy it again.

Bluebirds fly around the edges, stick their heads in and try to get inside to eat the mealworms but can't. Apparently the wire grid is too small or intimidating at least for my eastern bluebirds. Bluebirds either can't or won't enter the feeder. I was hoping to be able to feed the bluebirds without them being bothered by starlings, etc., but no luck. Other small birds like wrens have no trouble going in and eating the food which is a positive. Also, if you fill the hopper completely with food the larger birds can still reach some of it around the edges of the container by just holding on to the grid and sticking their heads in. I would not recommend this feeder for bluebirds.
