I use this for sheltering my wild bird hanging water supply. It shelters it from the sun as well as the rain. In southern CA my main use is for keeping the water at a cooler temperature. It's 14" size is great for a narrow hummingbird feeder as well. For my larger song bird feeder I purchased Drs F&S 22" steel weather guard, and also their dome-shaped guard as a spare. All three are priced right. I would highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ani59 Great protection
This item serves many purposes. While sold as a rain guard to protect against dilution of nectar or protection against seed getting soggy, it's a great baffle against both squirrels and raccoons when hanging feeders from tree branches high above the ground. Was having issues with raccoons robbing nectar feeders from both the ground and from the trees. Had to baffle post feeders with barrels, but I have 18 trees in my yard, with many feeders hanging in trees. The raccoons were batting the feeders from the trees to the ground and running off with parts of the feeders rendering them useless. With this rain guard, they have no leverage and impaired access to the feeders as long as I place them high enough that they can't jump and mount the bottom of the feeders from the ground. Top down, the guard just spins them off and sends them flailing to the ground. It's nice to be able to leave at least a few feeders out overnight without the bandits draining them empty or taking them entirely. I have several early bird hummers that visit at the crack of dawn, where I am not always available to place the feeders out to catch the morning parade. Also, the red is a magnet for hummers, and this adds more than just a splash of red; it's blatant and is highly visible to hummers passing by to lure them in. :)

Put these rain guards over my hummingbird feeders and they are loving it. Keeps the nectar shaded so it doesn't get to hot.
