Using your Deluxe Little Dog Bark Control
Fitting the Collar
NOTE: The proper fit and placement of your Bark Control Collar is important for effective operation. The Contact Points must have direct contact with your dog's skin on the underside of his neck.
- Ensure the battery is in the "OFF" position.
- Have your dog stand comfortably.
- Center the Contact Points underneath your dog's neck, touching the skin.
a.TIP: If necessary, trim the neck hair around the Contact Points to make sure contact with your dog's skin is consistent.
- The collar is designed so you can quickly attach and remove the Bark Control Collar from your dog while maintaining the desired fit.
a.With the Quick Release Buckle fastened, thread the collar through the Metal Buckle and Retaining Tabs.
b.Slide the excess collar through the "C" Loop on the top of the Quick Release Buckle. This will hold the collar in place.
c.Once the collar fit is determined, simply use the Quick Release Buckle to remove and replace the collar.
d.The collar should fit snugly, yet loose enough to allow one finger to fit between a Contact Point and your dog's neck. Allow your dog to wear the collar for a few minutes, then recheck the fit. Periodically recheck the fit as your dog wears and becomes more comfortable with the collar.
- Trim the collar.
a.Measure 4-1/2" from the tongue of the Metal Buckle and mark with a pen.
b.Remove the collar from your dog and cut off any excess collar.
Using the ID Tag Ring
- Attach your dog's ID Tag (not included) to the collar.
- Attach the ID Tag and ID Tag Ring to your dog's collar, by placing the ring through one of the holes on the collar.
a. NOTE: Ensure the Ring is placed far enough from the receiver housing so that the Tags will not hit the Receiver or the Contact Points.
NOTE: Do not attach a leash to the collar. Doing so can result in pulling the Contact Points too tightly against your dog's neck. Instead, attach a leash to a separate, non-metallic collar or harness, ensuring this alternate collar does not put pressure on the Contact Points of the Deluxe Little Dog Bark Control Collar.
For the comfort, safety, and effectiveness of this product, please ensure you check the fit of your pet's collar frequently. The above guide describes proper collar fitting. As with any collar, if any skin irritation is observed, discontinue the use of this collar for a few days. If the condition persists beyond 48 hours, see your veterinarian.
Installing the Battery
This collar is packaged with the Battery Module installed in the "OFF" position. To activate the collar, use a coin to turn the Battery Module counterclockwise until the arrow lines up with the "ON" position. If the collar is not going to be used on the dog immediately, or for extended periods of time, turn the Battery Module back to the "OFF" position.
Replacing the Battery
If necessary, replace the Battery with only the recommended replacement Battery (sold separately). This Battery is designed to make battery replacement easy and increase the water protection.
To insert the battery, align the triangles on the Battery and the Bark Control Collar. Use a coin to turn the battery clockwise until the arrows line up with the "ON" position.
To remove the battery, turn the battery counterclockwise using a coin. DO NOT attempt to cut into or pry open the battery.
NOTE: DO NOT install the battery or place the collar onto your dog with the battery in the "ON" position.
Reading the Two Color LED Light
The two color LED indicator shows good or low battery. Good battery equals one flash every five seconds with a green LED. A low battery equals three flashes every five seconds with a red LED. If there are no LED lights, the battery is completely dead and needs to be replaced.
What to Expect During Use of the Deluxe Little Dog Bark Control Collar
It is important to not leave your dog alone the first few times he receives static correction.
Place the Bark Control Collar properly on your dog and wait nearby until he barks. Most dogs will understand very quickly that the Bark Control Collar is disrupting their urge to bark and will relax and stop barking. Because the static correction from the collar may be surprising or startling at first, some dogs may bark more at the initial correction.
On rare occasions, a dog may get into a bark-correction-bark-correction cycle. If this happens, reassure your dog with calm, soothing tones. As your dog relaxes, he will understand that if he becomes quiet, he will not receive any more static corrections. The small group of dogs that have this reaction will only have it the first time they wear the collar.
You should notice a reduction in your dog's barking within the first couple of days that he wears the collar. At this point, it is important to remember the learning process is still not complete. Dogs will "test" this new learning experience and will increase their attempts to bark. This usually occurs during the second week a dog wears the collar. If this does occur, remain consistent and do not alter your use of the collar. For effective training, you must place the collar on your dog's neck every time you do not want him to bark. If your dog is not wearing the collar, he may resume barking and his learning would suffer a setback.

How your Deluxe Little Dog Bark Control Works
The collar has two primary features designed to shorten the training phase and promote good behavior. First, the Bark Control Collar has a unique patented sensor that uses both vibration and sound to detect and then correct your dog's bark with static correction. This feature discriminates each bark from other external noises, thereby ensuring the correction is administered only when your dog barks, helping to eliminate any confusion to your dog as to what caused the correction. The correction is administered through two metal Contact Points on the inside edge of the collar, only if both the vibration from the vocal cords and the sound from the bark match the same criteria.
Second, the collar has a Temperament Learning System, that contains software which tracks the number of needed corrections to substantially reduce (and in most cases eliminate) the number of nuisance barks. This system has ten levels of static correction. It begins with low-level corrections; however, if excessive barking continues, the correction intensity will increase with each successive bark until the barking stops. Once the dog has learned to reduce the barking, the initial warning corrections are reduced. If your dog does not bark within 30 seconds, the collar resets itself. A built-in safety feature will also automatically shut the collar off for three minutes should your dog bark more than fifteen times in any one minute, twenty second period.
TIP: Remove the collar before playing with your dog. Since activity may cause your dog to bark, leaving the collar on could cause your dog to associate play with the static correction.
NOTE: Never leave the collar on for more than twelve consecutive hours.

Replacement Battery
The average battery life is 3 to 6 months, depending on how often your dog barks. However, due to greater use during your dog's training, your first battery may not last as long as replacement batteries. To conserve battery life, turn the collar to the "OFF" position when not in use. Once drained, simply purchase a Replacement Battery, which is special-designed for ease of replacement, to fit into the collar transmitter, and to increase water protection.
