Definitely not what the picture shows
If you are looking for the purple colored 420nm bulbs this is not it! I've got true 420s on my big tank and wanted them for my smaller tank. This is listed as 420/460, which it is, but the picture makes it look purple like a true 420nm. I was shocked when I installed the bulb and saw how blue the color was. I put it next to an off brand 460nm that came with the fixture and it's impossible to tell the difference in the color or in the way the corals fluoresce.
I just installed it today so can't comment on how long it may last, I just wanted to help anyone else avoid the mistake I made by expecting the light would look like the picture.
So, come Drs. Foster and Smith - get some real 420nm bulbs in 18 inch!!
I should say that this is the only product from F&S that I've ever been dissatisfied with, and I have spent thousands of dollars here just on aquatic supplies, not to mention supplies for my dogs and cat.

i would not recommend this bulb
i have a 6 lamp t5 fixture and I have had 5 420/460nm bulbs go bad on me in less than 3 months. It is not the fixture ihad that replaced aswell. The bulbs do not last!!!!!!!!
