Worked great for my water.
I think peat moss gets over looked now a days because most people turn to RO units to lower ph. But I used this stuff in my bee shrimp
Tank. My tap water is ph7.5 kh3 gh3 tds 60. So my water is pretty soft to start with. This peat moss lowers my ph to 6.5 -5.5 depending on how much I used. It Made my kh0 and gh 1 . It even lowered my tdS to 40.
So it works great yes there is a little tea color when in water but I kind of like it. It's very natrual and not that bad. This stuff is light and floats till water logged and getting water logged takes forever. I uses this as a first layer of substrate in my shrimp Tanks. Plants like it too for rooting. So I say yes for planted tanks NO for co2 injected tanks.
With co2 it can lower the ph too low when you use peat and just a wrong reading. So I would leave it out of high tech tanks that run co2.
This is great stuff to get soft water fish and shrimp into breeding condition.
One good way to use it is like a Tea. Put it in a mesh bag add hot water and let soak. The hot water speeds up the prossese. They check the ph mix with tank water and it will lower it. Like a black water extract.
