Not just useful-critical to my pond
Here in Nebraska, my pond has a stay full valve that runs as a part of my sprinkler system. The sprinkler is obviously shut down in our cold winters. I use a flat hose to keep the pond full, but it is only done as needed and had to be drained after each use. This heated hose should solve that issue.

Good idea, but not practical
I thought this hose would save me time and would make winter watering of horses easier. I finally found a great sale at Foster and Smith and excitedly sent for 2 60' hoses. They came quickly and I was impressed with F & S service! (I stil am!) But the hoses were a real disappointment! Instead of saving time and making life easier, they were hard to use and time consuming: the hoses are heavy, even when empty and if you try to roll them up, they fold. Keeping them straight as you roll them up is almost impossible. And you have to unscrew them from the tap after using them or the 3 inches that connects to the tap WILL freeze! The best option is leaving them laying straight out after use and, of course, unscrewing them. Leaving them laid straight out is nott an option in our horse stable. We gave one hose away and will sell the other one at a benefit coming up. We are back to our light weight garden hoses!
