Reef Gently AccliMate Pro with enhanced features means greater convenience and use. New AccliStick drip rate regulator eliminates guesswork for precision acclimation tailored to the hardiness of your new aquarium addition. Graduated notches lets you set the appropriate sensitivity level for the species you're acclimating. NEW AccliMate XL boosts capacity to 1-1/2 gallons (3X the volume of the Original AccliMate Pro) for transporting, acclimating, trapping or isolating larger aquarium fish, invertebrates and corals.
The AccliMate Pro automatic acclimation system consists of a pair of nesting acrylic boxes - One larger watertight and a smaller one with drainage holes. This simple yet innovative design lets you bring home and acclimate new aquarium inhabitants in one handy vessel. Once the acclimation process is over, simply lift the smaller acrylic box for a convenient, net-free way to release new aquarium additions. To use as a manual trap, attach included fishing line to the sliding cover/trap door, add bait and place in aquarium. Pull trap door close once target fish or pest enters the trap.
Industrial grade suction cups ensure secure mounting and user-regulated dual-siphon Continuous Exchange System (CES) slowly replaces store water with your aquarium water to significantly minimize potential contamination. Employing the added function as an isolation tank is as simple as suction mounting the Acclimate inner acrylic box inside your aquarium. Use the multipurpose AccliMate Pro to effortlessly transport, acclimate, trap or isolate aquarium inhabitants!

How to use the AccliMate
Using the AccliMate is easy! Here are some of the things the AccliMate can do:
The AccliMate helps you move your fish from place-to-place. Whether it's from the fish store to your home or from your home to the coral frag party, the AccliMate is specifically made to replace conventional containers and plastic bags.
When you get your fish home, the AccliMate helps you acclimate your fish without needing to move them to a separate acclimation container.
The AccliMate helps you capture your fish in an aquarium. It works as an excellent fish trap!
Using the AccliMate for Transportation
Place the strainer box into the outer container. Take the AccliMate with you to the fish or pet store. Be sure to take the fastening strap and cover with you.
Ask the attendant to place your purchased fish into the AccliMate instead of a plastic bag. This reduces the carbon footprint of our hobby.
Slide the cover into place and secure it with the fastening strap*.
*A note of caution: The AccliMate's cover is NOT guaranteed to be water tight. It will do a good job of keeping water from leaking but it will not keep water off of your car seat if it falls over. Make sure you secure your AccliMate well in your car or place it on the floor.
Using the AccliMate for Acclimation
After arriving at your destination, you can set your AccliMate on a table top, the floor or use the hanger to hang it on the side of your aquarium.
Remove the fastening strap and cover.
If you are going to hang the AccliMate on the side of your aquarium, then use the fastening strap to secure the AccliMate to the hanger. Note: There are convenient slots in the hanger to keep the strap from slipping. Simply thread the strap through the slots and wrap it tightly around the AccliMate. Fasten the strap by putting the end through the plastic loop and folding the fastener back over itself.
The AccliMate was designed to accommodate just about any method of acclimation. The enclosed tube can be used for drip acclimation and the provided clamp does a good job of controlling the drip rate.
After completing the acclimation process, simply lift the strainer box up using the finger holes and let all of the water drain back into the outer container.
Use the strainer to release your fish into the aquarium.
Using the AccliMate as a Fish Trap
The AccliMate makes an effective fish trap and can be used in a "guillotine" configuration when place on its side in your aquarium.
Remove the cover and place the strainer into the outer box so you can use it when you reach your destination.
Tie a long length of fishing line to the small hole in the cover.
Place the fish trap on its side in your aquarium with the appropriate bait inside.
Insert the cover into the cover slots so the hole with the fishing line is at the top.
Raise the cover and hold it up with the fishing line until your quarry has entered the trap...then let it go.
Parts of the AccliMate:
Strainer (doubles as a Bristle Worm Trap)
Cover (doubles as a Fish Trap Door)
Tank Hanger
Drip Tube
Tube Clamp
Cinch Strap
Fishing Line (used in the Fish Trap Mode)
Outer Container
General Information
The AccliMate consists of a pair of acrylic boxes, one smaller strainer box that fits inside of a larger water tight box. The smaller box is designed to allow it to be removed from the larger box while the unit is full of water (and fish). When the smaller box is removed, specially designed drain holes and slots allow all of the water to drain out and back into the outer box leaving the contaminated fish store water out of your aquarium. Your fish is released into the new aquarium using the strainer instead of a net.
A convenient cover seals the unit to help prevent spillage when using the AccliMate to transport fish. The included hanger lets you conveniently attach the AccliMate to the side of your quarantine tank or aquarium for easier use.
The AccliMate is designed to serve three primary functions:
Safely and efficiently transport aquatic animals and plants from one place to another.
Easily and effectively acclimate aquatic animals and plants to the water parameters of a new aquarium.
Quickly and reliably trap fish inside of the aquarium in preparation for transport.
The AccliMate offers a number of benefits, some are obvious, some not so obvious.
Improve aquarist success through better acclimation of new pets.
Greatly reduces the possibility of contaminating your aquarium with water from the fish store.
Lower hobby cost as more fish survive the acclimation process.
Greater satisfaction in the hobby hopefully, leading to more people staying in it.
Reduced impact on wild habitat. The more fish survive, the fewer will need to be pulled from the reef.
Smaller carbon footprint as the need for plastic bagging at LFS is reduced or eliminated.
There are a few alternate uses for the AccliMate:
It is excellent for fresh water dips.
It can be used as a breeder pen.
It just makes moving fish around easier.
It is a great medication chamber.
Some of the key features of the AccliMate:
Transportation and acclimation are done all in the same unit.
It can be used as a hang-on-tank device or tank side on a table or other platform.
It eliminates the need for nets when introducing new fish and corals.
It is perfect (and designed specifically) for drip acclimation of sensitive animals.
It is hard-sided to allow for the transportation and acclimation of spiny and poisonous fish. No more Styrofoam boxes.
It's great for taking to coral frag parties.
AccliStick Drip Rate Guide
Notes To Read First:
Be sure to use the appropriate Drip Rate Guide for the AccliMate model you own.
The dual siphon system uses a faster drip than other methods - Don't be alarmed by the flow rate.
Any modifications to the AccliMate system, including increasing the length of the siphon tube will produce results different from those stated on the AccliStick Drip Rate Guide.
By slightly pinching the end of the siphon tube, the AccliStick will be easier to insert and remove.
You've invested valuable time and money researching the habitat requirements of the fish and corals you wish to house. Naturally, you want to protect this investment by executing a proper acclimation process once the specimens arrive at your door.
Building and maintaining a successful aquarium depends largely on knowing and following best-of-practice procedures based on the collected experience of experts and enthusiasts.
Prevent costly losses by having a quarantine tank ready for any unexpected event. Use quarantine tanks to monitor new aquarium inhabitants before adding them to your main aquarium.
Quarantine tanks are essentially auxiliary aquariums set up along with the main aquarium. They are used to isolate sick fish or to observe new arrivals to minimize the stress of introduction or spread of disease/parasites into the aquarium.
