Directions for Use
Position the ViaAqua Titanium Heater in the aquarium where there is good water circulation. Good water circulation ensures the heater thermostat will work properly and keep the aquarium water temperature consistent.
Use the provided suction cups to connect the ViaAqua titanium heating probe to the aquarium. Note: The suction cups should be connected to the top third of the ViaAqua titanium heating probe.
Place the ViaAqua temperature-sensing probe opposite the ViaAqua heating probe. Both ViaAqua heating probe and the temperature-sensing probe must be placed in areas of the aquarium that have good water circulation.
Place the ViaAqua temperature controller above the aquarium and affix to the wall. The ViaAqua temperature controller is not water resistant and cannot come into contact with water.
Allow the ViaAqua heater 10 to 15 minutes to acclimate to the aquarium water temperature before plugging the ViaAqua temperature controller into an electrical outlet. Note: When plugging in the ViaAqua titanium heater into an electrical outlet, a "Drip Loop" must be arranged by the user.
Plug in the ViaAqua Temperature controller.
Use the knob on the ViaAqua temperature controller to set the desired temperature. Note: When the red light is on, the heating element is on.
Confirm your aquarium water temperature with an accurate thermometer placed opposite the ViaAqua heating probe. A small difference between the reading of the thermometer and the ViaAqua temperature controller setting is normal.
Important Safeguards
Always disconnect the ViaAqua heater from the power supply prior to working on the aquarium.
If the ViaAqua temperature controller should fall or come into contact with water, disconnect the ViaAqua heater from the power supply before removing.
Do not operate the appliance if the cord has been damaged.
A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) is recommended for all electrical appliances.
A surge protector is recommended for all aquarium appliances.
Do not operate the ViaAqua titanium heater without the heating probe being in water.
Check the voltage on the ViaAqua heater to verify that it is the same as your electrical supply.
The water level must be maintained at the minimum water level line at all times.
For indoor use only.

I purchased this heater because I have a large Cichild that could break glass heaters easily. They are well worth the money. I highly recommend them.
I've had one for years. They are reliable and the numbers won't disappear after years use like the ones without external temperature control. Plus, added bonus that they aren't glass so you don't have to worry about them shattering. Big thumbs up from a reef aquarium enthusiast.
A sharp drop in water temperature is extremely stressful to fish and can compromise their immune system. Improperly sized heaters may not be able to maintain their set temperature and cause aquarium temperature to fluctuate several degrees per day.
Temperature can be the single most important component in the life of your fish. Fish, in the wild and in our aquariums, are very sensitive to changes in temperature. Learn the affects of water temperature on fish health.
Don't take the quality of your tap water for granted. If you draw your water from a well, nature may not be providing you the perfect balance. If you are using tap water from your municipal department, it likely includes minerals and additives.
Algae are prolific and opportunistic organisms that take advantage of aquarium systems that are out of balance. Water quality issues create ideal conditions for algae. This article explains how proper water quality helps control algae.
