Transonic PRO
Operation and Use
This electronic pest repeller is constructed of solid-state electronics that require no maintenance or refills.
-
Insert barrel plug end of the AC adapter cord into the POWER jack (located on the back of the unit). Plug the other end into a standard electrical outlet (for outdoor connection, adapter is to be connected to a receptacle or convenience outlet of the gasket-cover type for use in wet locations). Move the switch to the ON position. The LED light will remain illuminated as long as the unit is operating.
-
Refer to the diagram on the back of the unit to select the SOUND VOLUME switch position and the SOUND PATTERN switch position to customize the desired pest-specific setting.
-
Slide the SOUND VOLUME switch to select which sound level to broadcast.
-
Slide the SOUND PATTERN switch to select which pest to repel. The SOUND PATTERN switch adjusts the length, interval, and pattern of the sound.
| Quiet Mode |
Sounds that are primarily ultrasonic (Maximum effective range of 2,000 square feet) |
| Med Mode |
All sounds in the Quiet Mode, plus a variety of sonic sounds (Maximum effective range of 3,000 square feet) |
| Loud Mode |
All sounds in the Quiet & Med Modes, plus a loud sonic frequency (Maximum effective range of 3,500 square feet) |
Place unit on a flat surface. Operate the pest repeller continuously, occasionally moving the unit to a different location as necessary. Allow up to 2 weeks to see results. Continue use to permanently keep pests away.
How it Works
Pests are repelled because they cannot adapt to the constantly changing array of ultrasonic and sonic signals emitted by the unit. The unit disrupts the pests' nervous system, affecting their feeding and communication habits, forcing them to leave the area. The unit is safe for use around humans, unborn children and non-rodent pets such as dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles. However, the unit should be kept away from pet tarantulas, mice, hamsters, ferrets, and gerbils. Independent laboratory and university testing has proven ultrasonic and sonic sound technology to be an effective form of pest control.
About Ultrasonic and Sonic Sounds
Ultrasonic sounds (sounds above 20,000Hz), are nearly silent to humans and most animals. Ultrasound cannot travel through walls or closed doors. The signals bounce off these hard surfaces, causing a ricochet effect. Ultrasonic sounds are absorbed by soft materials such as curtains, furniture, and carpet, which in turn diminish the effectiveness of the unit. Shadow areas may occur around corners or behind home furnishings.
Sonic sounds are lower frequency, audible sounds that carry further and are effective in repelling larger pests such as rats and squirrels. These lower frequency sounds are effective in protecting larger areas. Prolonged exposure to the unit in the Loud and Medium (sonic) settings is not recommended for pets in a confined area and can be irritating to humans.

Unit Set Up
Gently pull off the back cover. Set the operation switch (upper right) to OFF. Turn the frequency dial (upper left) to the desired pest. On the operation switch, choose "MS AC or Battery" for the unit to operate briefly each time the motion sensor is tripped (works with both AC adapter and batteries), or choose "CONT. AC Only" for the unit to work continuously (works with AC adapter only). Turn "Sensitivity" dial to adjust motion sensor sensitivity.
AC Adapter - Plug one end into the port underneath the operation switch and the other into any standard outlet (If using outside, protect the outlet from weather). Run the cord through the notch on the bottom of the unit. Snap the cover back into place.
Batteries - Install 4 "C" batteries as shown on the unit. Snap the cover back in place.
Expect coverage up to 4,000 square feet in a generally oval pattern approximately 80 feet out in front of the unit, 50 feet wide. The speaker projects sound on a horizontal plane in one direction. The lower the sound frequency (clockwise) the greatest coverage. In dense foliage and/or large acreage, multiple units may be necessary.
Installation
Use the keyhole slots on the back to mount the YardGard on any building, wall, or wooden post with nails or screws. Point the speaker at the area you want covered. If installing outdoors, place the unit at least 3 feet above the ground for optimum range.
Troubleshooting
Check that the power switch of the unit is not OFF (in other words, either CONT AC Only or MS AC Battery). If using batteries, check that they are good. If using the Continuous AC Only power setting, check that the outlet is good. If using MS AC or Battery Setting, only expect activation if there is motion.
Read the Pest Management Program section. Check and remove unusual incentives.
Check the dial settings and make sure you have selected a range appropriate to the pest.
If a specific dial setting causes a squeaking or scratching sound, then rotate the dial slightly until the sound stops.
Pest Management Program
Survey the pests and their entry, exit and feeding habits.
Inspect your property. Discover what the pests find attractive about your area and if the same conditions prevail in neighboring properties.
Remove inducements. Clean the area of all evidence of pests and residual scent. Because pests and their droppings can cause many diseases, use extreme caution when removing them. Do not breathe or come into direct contact with them. If you have questions about how to do this safely, consult an expert. Remove food spillage, garbage, nesting materials, and other appealing items.
Maintain a clean and changing environment. For maximum effectiveness, periodically repeat the above process and relocate or reposition the YardGard unit, vary the output, or turn it off for a short period of time.
Install early. It is always best to install the YardGard before "pest season" begins, as it is easier to discourage them than to rout them out, once they have already established a pattern.
Consider alternate locations. Make educated guesses as to where the pests will go when they leave their current infestation area, and consider purchasing additional units to cover these areas as well.
Unit Overview
This adjustable-frequency, dual operation, weatherproof unit deters cats, dogs, deer, armadillos, rodents, bats, insects, and raccoons. An infrared motion sensor is built in.
Precautions
Even though the top range of the YardGard (25 kHz) is above human hearing range (which averages, at top level, about 16 kHz), the intensity is great enough to present a chance of damage to the ear if it is directly exposed for an extended period of time at a distance of less than 10 feet. These units should definitely not be located at or near a place where someone will be located for a long time. Normally, this type of unit is located outside pointing away from a house or structure, or indoors in a rarely occupied attic or basement and thus presents no problem when located in this manner.
Turn unit off if you are sitting or working within range of the unit, as human presence will normally deter the pests.
As with any electrical devices, do not place the unit in or near water and do not mount it while standing in or surrounded by water.
Do not aim the product into neighboring yards or public areas, or at caged or leashed animals.
This product is intended for use on your property only. Some people with good high frequency hearing will be able hear the unit at its lower frequencies. If this occurs, select a higher frequency setting.
