Fling-ama-String

Challenge your cat to catch the constantly moving string on this award-winning, battery-operated cat toy. Elastic belt continuously rotates from top to bottom, flinging the long, colorful, sewn-on string. Once your cat lets go of the string, the belt automatically starts to rotate again. Convenient on/off speed control slide allows you to switch between two different speeds (fast and slow) to satisfy the frisky or faint feline. Easily hangs on any standard doorknob with included metal S-hook hanger. Black elastic belt at bottom secures toy firmly to door, so toy doesn't bang against or damage door. Requires 3 AA batteries, not included. No assembly required. Measures 4" x 1-1/2" x 28-1/2" high (31-1/2" high with hanger).

1. Place 3 AA batteries (not included) into back compartment.
2. Hang S-hook to knob on front of any standard door.
3. Pull the black elastic belt (at bottom of toy) under the door. Pull one of the loops around back door knob. Choose the tightest loop to best secure toy.
4. To prevent kitty from pulling/pushing door, keep door closed.
5. Turn on by moving slide to the right. Choose speed 1 (slow) or speed 2 (fast) according to kitty's preference.
6. Your cat will catch the string from time to time by biting, clawing, or pawing. When kitty lets go, the string will immediately start to rotate again.

• When toy is turned off, please make sure string is hidden behind the elastic belt.
• The black flat elastic belt is not to be used as a toy. Keep it attached to the back doorknob at all times when kitty is playing with the toy.
• Please do not attach any objects to the end of the string. This will cause serious damage to the toy.
• When to replace batteries: The batteries will last for hours and hours and hours… But then the string might start to catch on the frame, and you'll notice a reduction in the speed of the string. Do not worry. The toy is working properly, it's just time to change the batteries.
• Scaredy cats: You might have to show him the ropes (or in this instance, the string). Turn the toy on. Kneel down in front of the toy. Play with the toy by catching and batting at the string (don't worry, we won't tell anyone). Or, pull the string out as far as it goes. Dangle the string in front of kitty. As he gets interested, turn the toy on and let go. Your "fraidy" cat will turn into a courageous lion in no time!
• Genius kitties: Your over-achiever might want to advance past conventional Fling-ama-String play. You can mix things up by: (For doors that have a bit of space under them) Putting your kitty on the other side of the door/toy/you. Close the door. Turn the toy on. Kitty peeks under the door. Next, a paw will appear. Then, an entire leg. Finally, you'll witness two wildly flailing paws and legs trying to catch the string! Or, kitty might want the challenge of a moving string and a moving door. Turn the toy on, and keep the door open. (We apologize for any loud, door-crashing noises that might occur!). He can also stalk the toy from behind the open door, and then pounce on his prey (the string) when the time is just right.

I would have to give this a 10 star out of 5. This is the absolute best cat toy I have every had for my cat. If you don't have enough time to play with your bored kitty, this one will have your kitty or cat crying out for you to turn it on way after they are tired out. I looooove this toy, and as another writer wrote; "if my cat does tear it up I will buy another".

I recently bought this toy for my kitty as a Christmas present. This has got to be one of the best toys ever invented for a cat. It's highly entertaining for me as well as my cat. She hides around the corner, then stalks and pounces on the flailing string. Then, she will sit and watch the string move as if "strategizing" her next move. My cat normally tires of most toys very quickly...once she's figured them out, the thrill is gone, but I don't see that happening with this toy. She actually sits in front of this toy waiting for me to turn it on!! And, it's a great distraction when I need to do some reading or pay a few bills without a kitty sitting in the middle of it :)

I have pretty much given up on purchasing toys for my cats as experience has taught me that they usually just don't care about them enough. I really took a chance on this toy, but it was well worth it. My "way-too-dignified-for-boring-cat-toys" kitty was obsessively stalking and plotting this toy for HOURS!!! Even my other kitty, just had to sit and watch his brother in amazement! I actually have to take the toy off the door and store it in its box so he doesn't rip the door from the hinges! :-) This toy is a must-have for any cat household!

This is a wonderful toy. Finding a toy that Toby likes is a challenge but he loves this one. I was so impressed that I ordered one for my daughter's cat, Jasper. He is totally addicted to it. It makes it nice for her when she needs a break as he can play by himself.

My 3 year old cat and my 4 month old kitten both love this toy. It's their favorite toy, and when it's turned on, it's all they can think about. The kitten even tried to remove it from the door. I bought a 2nd one for my Mom's 6 year old cat, whose vet has put her on a diet and says she needs to lose weight. She played with this toy continuously for more than an hour, until we turned it off for fear she would get too much exercise, out of shape as she is. If you are going to buy only one toy, I would strongly recommend this one.

Mitzi LOVES this toy!. She jumps at it, watches it, and begs me to turn it back on, if I turn it off for a while, trying to save on the batteries. However, I think she watches it MORE than she actually plays with it, and it DOES bang against the door, even though it's hooked around it. The toy is also noisy. But, all in all, it was still a good investment. Mitzi loves it and that's what counts the most, in my book.

My cats LOVE this toy - it's definitely their favorite one. However, they destroy it in about a week, so what I do is keep two of them, so when one is destroyed, the other can be put out for them. They are simple to fix, just clean out the rollers of any collected threads, and use an old shoe lace to replace the string (just needle and thread to sew onto roller) and voila' back in action. Believe me, your cats will not 'allow' you to not have this toy operational once they've experienced it!

I bought this toy about 2 months ago for my 2 perpetually bored and apathetic kitties. They loved this toy so much that they've destroyed it! I'm ordering a second one because they enjoy it so much. Beware, the smarter your cat is, the faster she'll wreck this toy but she'll have a ball doing it!

I recently ordered a Fling-ama-String and was surprised at the reaction I got. Three of my five cats sat and just watched-then bam, they were jumping; stalking the other side of the door-surely it must be behind the door! One of the cats just sits and looks at it when it's not on. This is a great toy. I rather enjoy it, to just watch the cats jumping around is entertainment for me.

I've never written a review before this but had to write one for this cat toy. My 9 month old kitten absolutely loves this toy. She even plays with it when it is not on or sits there staring at it, waiting for the string to appear. I give it a 10 out of 10!!!

Incredible Toy! Both my little guys LOVE this! Will stalk, dive, chase, and pull this string (for hours!)without harming the toy! I also put a small basket at the base sometimes for added variety of fling! Buying a back-up as this is a keeper! Well-thought out design and quite durable. Great exercise for my boys!

I thought this toy was kind of silly looking but bought it on a whim. To my surprise, this has turned out to be my cat's favorite toy ever! We have taken to calling it the "TV" because we can just turn it on and Buddy will sit and watch the string for hours ... literally ... he adores this thing. If he is on the other side of the house and I turn it on, he will come running. Great cat toy!
