Buffer/Stabilizer is also a KH alkalinity supplement

Blend of buffering salts gently conditions aquarium water
*
Ensures a proper pH for your reef or marine aquarium
Gently stabilize your aquarium's pH to the best possible levels for your reef or marine tank inhabitants. Also acts as a KH Alkalinity supplement. Sets saltwater at a pH of 8.2. Powdered buffers resist pH drop (acidification), hold the pH at an ideal 8.2, and increase carbonate hardness. Also helps to reestablish a target pH level after making partial water changes with change water under target pH. Use for tap water, tank water, and change water. 8.8 oz jar treats up to 1,250 gallons and includes 5-gram scoop.
Please click on "More Information" for uses and ingredients.
Directions: Use the included scoop to add 1 tsp per 25 gallons of saltwater.
Test your pH to determine need for adjustment because fish waste products continually tend to acidify tank water. If pH adjustment upward is indicated, then proceed to step 2.
Pre-dissolve the measured pH buffer to use for your gallonage in 1-2 cups of freshwater (whether bottled or dechlorinated tap water). This solution may be hazy. Add it to your tank water by flowing it over the surface area. Any resulting cloudiness should disappear quickly.
This blend of buffering salts is purposely gentle, so that raising the pH to a target within 8.0-8.3 should be accomplished in 1 or more consecutive applications, 48 hours apart, without overshooting safe limits. The number of applications depends on the starting pH, the gap to reach your target, and existing alkalinity (the equilibrium between bicarbonate, carbonate, and hydroxide ions). Since it can take 48 hours +/- for buffering adjustments to stabilize, retest pH after 8 hours before making another application.
Many freshwater community fish thrive in a broad pH range between slightly acidic (6.5) to slightly alkalic (7.5). To provide their ideal water conditions, you must learn how to make adjustments to your aquarium water using pH conditioners.
Often overlooked, pH may well be one of the most critical parameters in a healthy system. Maintaining the right pH range - 8.3-8.5 in marine systems - has a natural antiseptic effect, helping fish resist illness and coral calcify faster.
Depending on your source water, as well as the type of fish you choose, you may need special water conditioners, pH adjusters/buffers, or trace element additives to achieve proper water conditions.
