Special Nutritional Needs

Because ferrets have a rapid gastrointestinal transit time of 3-4 hours, they require a diet made from high-quality, easily digestible animal protein sources. Feeding Recommendations

Premium Ferret Diet is meant to be your ferret's sole diet. Feed free-choice and limit the amount of treats to no more than 20% of your ferret's total diet. Remove old food and replenish with new food daily. Always provide fresh, clean water.

Growing Ferrets
Following weaning, some young ferrets find it easier to wean on Premium Ferret Diet if it is moistened with warm water until it is soft. During this time, also introduce a few dry nuggets.

Adult Ferrets
Feed Premium Ferret Diet free choice. On average, ferrets will consume 1/2 to 3/4 cup of food per day. Adjust the amount of food depending on age, activity and environment, to maintain optimal body weight without obesity or excessive thinness.

Reproducing Jills
Reproducing jills need significantly more food during certain stages of pregnancy and until the kits are weaned. Make sure your ferret is offered more than she usually eats during this time.
