Quality Fly Protection at a Great Price
July and August bugs can be BRUTAL in New England. While we have several horses from which the bugs can choose, one very large blond chestnut gelding we have seems to be a deer fly magnet !
Thank goodness for the Saxon. The 84" size fits him comfortably, protects him from biting insects, and is cool enough to wear on the hot, humid, hazy days of summer.
We are on the 2nd season with same sheet. But thanks to the price, we can afford a backup sheet just in case....
Great fly protection for the price!

We got this because our Paint sunburns on her white patches, one of which is on her neck. Other sheets don't cover the neck. After just a week of wearing this, we've noticed a huge improvement. Really helps with flies as well. Easy to put on and take off, and seems to be withstanding any abuse the horse throws at it :)

Overall a great buy
Unfortunately, my 34 gelding has developed a sensitivity to flies this summer. He developed large itchy welts, and open sores from rubbing, so I went in search of a good quality, affordable, full coverage fly sheet. I've had Saxon blankets in the past and purchased this particular sheet based on both the Saxon name and the very affordable price. I just received it today so I can't comment on durability yet but, overall I'm happy with the materials, construction, and cut. The fit is not too bad... he's an average build, 15h QH, and the 75" length is great, but I think I'm going to have to take up the belly panel. Even with the straps as short as possible, it hangs 5"- 6" below his belly. Also, the open triangle where the neck piece meets the chest may present a problem for flies biting that area, but with his head down grazing it closes up so we will have to see about that. I'd feel better if that area was covered at all times, whether his head was up or down. I don't know if I'm going to hook the extended neck to his mask. It's a little short I think. It pulls his mask up and the sheet forward when his head is down grazing. For now it's stiff enough with the double layer of material on top that it doesn't slip down his neck when he puts his head up. And I'm a little concerned that if it's constantly pulling tight when he puts his head down that it will rub/mat his mane. Maybe I'll add an elastic extension later...time will tell about that. Also, an FYI, there are NOT leg straps on it, only the tail cord. I thought it odd in the description that it would have both, but I don't mind a tail cord, actually I prefer it because there's no chance of rubbing on the inside of the legs. Just a few design tweaks and it would be perfect but overall I like the sheet and would order another.
