Ideal supplements for reef aquariums and refugiums
Liquid iron supplement contains iron and manganese - essential for healthy plant growth
Magnesium supplement replenishes magnesium levels to help ensure proper coral growth
Julian Sprung's Reef Formula Magnesium Concentrate from Two Little Fishies for healthy corals. Replenishes magnesium concentration vital for stable pH as well as proper calcium deposition in corals. Magnesium Concentrate helps maintain optimum water quality for corals, coralline algae, macroalgae, sea grasses, and mangroves. Add one capful per 10 gallons to raise the magnesium concentration by 5 mg/L. Use a Magnesium test kit to measure the concentration of magnesium in the aquarium water.
Advanced liquid iron supplement for healthy coral and macroalgae growth. Julian Sprung's Reef Formula Iron Concentrate from Two Little Fishies contains iron and manganese, essential for all plants including symbiotic algae found in corals and sea anemones. Julian Sprung's Iron Concentrate safely replenishes iron and manganese in the proper ratio to help maintain optimum water quality. Use one capful per 25 gallons, weekly.

Dosage: Use a Magnesium test kit to measure the concentration of magnesium in the aquarium water. Add one capful (5 ml = 1 teaspoon) per 38 liters or 10 gallons to raise the magnesium concentration by 5 mg/L. Use as needed to maintain the magnesium concentration at approximately 1,350 mg/L at a specific gravity of 1.025. If the specific gravity is lower, the magnesium concentration will be proportionately lower.
Ingredients: Reverse osmosis purified water, magnesium chloride, and magnesium sulfate.
Contains no ammonia, phosphate, or silicate.
Two Little Fishies Magnesium Concentrate is a solution that contains the element magnesium, an essential pH-stabilizing component of the seawater buffering system. Magnesium is also important for the operation of various cellular enzymes, and is a key component of the pigment chlorophyll and the functioning of photosynthesis in plants. Two Little Fishies Magnesium Concentrate replenishes the magnesium concentration with a seawater ratio of magnesium chloride and magnesium sulfate. It helps maintain optimum water quality for corals, coralline algae, macroalgae, sea grasses, and mangroves.
Do not overdose. High magnesium levels or large single doses may enhance the loss of carbonate alkalinity. Do not dose more than quantity needed to raise the magnesium concentration by 25 mg/L per day.
Caution: Add to strong current stream for rapid distribution in the water. Wait at least 30 minutes before adding any buffers to the aquarium. Do not mix with other supplements in a dosing reservoir. Keep at room temperature. Shelf life is 5 years.
Dosage: One capful (5 ml = 1 teaspoon) per 100 liters or 25 gallons, weekly. Shake well before dosing. Caution: Add to strong current stream for rapid distribution in the water. Do not mix with other supplements in a dosing reservoir. Keep at room temperature. Shelf life is 5 years.
Two Little Fishies Iron Concentrate is a solution that contains the elements iron and manganese, which are essential to the health of all plants, including the symbiotic zooxanthellae in corals and sea anemones. Two Little Fishies Iron Concentrate is also an ideal supplement for sea grass aquariums. Biological processes, oxidation, precipitation, and incorporation by marine life, all deplete iron and manganese from aquarium water. Two Little Fishies Iron Concentrate safely replenishes iron and manganese in the proper ratio, which helps maintain optimum water quality for the growth of corals and the macroalgae that are commonly cultivated in refugium aquariums.
By periodically harvesting the macroalgae biomass grown in refugium aquariums, large quantities of nitrogenous waste and phosphate can be removed from the water. In addition, macroalgae in a refugium illuminated on a daylight cycle opposite the main display aquarium help to stabilize the pH and oxygen levels.
Understanding trace elements and using them properly is not that complicated once a general understanding of what they do and what their levels should be is achieved. Mike Paletta helps explain how to achieve them in this article.
A coral farm is an aquaculture facility designed to propagate - or grow - live coral, providing a self-sustaining source of corals. Every coral fragment we can grow is one less taken from a natural reef. Learn what LiveAquaria.com is doing to help.
