Salifert Silicate Test Kit

Versatile silicate test kit for sensitive and accurate test results. High quality test kit allows aquarists to measure silicate levels in fresh or saltwater aquariums. The Salifert Silicate Test Kit detects silicate in two different ranges. The high-range test is ideal for freshwater aquariums. The low range is designed for reef systems that require a sensitive test to detect low concentrations of silicate. Silicate can encourage brown algae (diatom) bloom in newly established marine aquariums and may block some essential trace elements, such as vanadium and molybdenum, necessary for healthy coral growth. The Salifert Silicate Test Kit is also useful to monitor the performance of your reverse osmosis unit. 60 tests. For freshwater and marine aquariums.

Range: 0.03 to 30 ppm

• Use the syringe and add 10 ml of water in the test vial (for low resolution method use 1 ml).
• Add 4 drops of Si-1 reagent and swirl the test vial gently for 10 seconds. Allow to stand for 5 minutes (for low resolution use 2 drops).
• Then add 4 drops of Si-2 reagent and swirl the contents gently for 30 seconds (for low resolution use 2 drops).
• Add 1 level scoop of Si-3 reagent and swirl the test vial for 20 seconds.
• Place the open test vial on top of the white portion of the color chart. Compare the colors, looking from above, to the corresponding dissolved silicon content. An intermediate color corresponds to intermediate dissolved silicon content.

Note: For low resolution method multiply the values on the color chart by 10.
