If your horse is coughing, this could mean any number of things, including minor and serious conditions. It could be a minor irritation, such as from a dusty stable or stall or it could be a sign of a more serious viral or bacterial infection. Other causes include a foreign body, such as a piece of hay in your horse's respiratory tract, allergies, a parasite such as lungworm, or exercise-induced respiratory tract problems.
Although herbal remedies may help for minor irritations, it is important to have the cause of the cough diagnosed by your veterinarian.
