Use Instructions Charging Your Trimmer
Plug the Charger into any standard 120-volt outlet.
Ensure the Trimmer ON/OFF switch is in the "OFF" position.
Place on Charger. If the Trimmer is seated correctly, the green light will turn on.
Please charge the Trimmer for 12 hours (overnight) before first use for maximum performance.
NOTE: You may keep the Trimmer in the Charger when not in use. The Charger will maintain the battery at full charge and the green light will stay on. The unit has a Nickel Metal Hydride battery that cannot be damaged by overcharging. However, it is recommended the Charger be unplugged if the Trimmer won't be used for seven or more days.
About Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries
Nickel Metal Hydride batteries have less "Memory Effect" than Nickel Cadmium batteries. "Memory Effect" is caused by repeated short uses of the Trimmer, followed by charging. The battery never fully discharges and, therefore, forgets how much energy it can store. In order to maximize the performance of your Trimmer, please follow these steps:
Oil blade. Turn Trimmer "ON" and allow it to run until the blade slows significantly. It is not necessary to let the blade stop completely.
Turn the Trimmer "OFF". Charge overnight.
Repeat this exercise every sixty days.
Care Instructions
Blades should be oiled before, during, and after each use. If your Trimmer Blades leave streaks or slow down, it's a sure sign the blades need oil. Place a few drops of suitable clipper oil on the front and side of the cutting blades. Wipe excess oil off blades with a soft, dry cloth. Always replace broken or nicked blades to prevent injury.
Attaching the Trimmer Combs
Each Clipper Comb Blade Attachment mounts easily. Just snap your chosen Comb onto the Blade Head. To remove, snap off.
To Replace Trimmer Blades
The Trimmer tension has been pre-set at the factory. To replace worn out blades, ensure the Trimmer is turned "OFF". Using a Phillips head screwdriver, unscrew the two Blade Screws. Remove the Blade Set from the Trimmer. Install a new Blade Set onto the Trimmer. Replace the Blade Screws. Before fully tightening the screws, check the alignment of the Blade Set to the Trimmer Housing. Finally, tighten Screws. Do not overtighten.
Cleaning Instructions
Clean excess hair from the blades using a small brush. To clean the blades, immerse the blades only in a shallow pan of suitable clipper oil while the Trimmer is running. This will cause any excess hair or dirt trapped between the blades to clean out. After cleaning, turn the Trimmer "OFF" and dry the blades with a dry cloth.
Bathing and grooming your horse can seem like a chore. But by choosing the correct shampoo, conditioner, or detangler for your needs, bathes can both allow you to easily clean and bond with your horse.
Electric equine clippers and trimmers are must-have tools if you plan on doing your own horse grooming. In general, use clippers for entire body grooming. Use trimmers for precision trimming around the face, ears, hooves, and tail of your horse.
Leaving a thick winter coat on your horse may be doing more harm than good, especially if he spends most of the season stabled. Thick coats heat up quickly, causing excessive sweating, and they dry slowly, making the horse damp and chilled.
Please note: Return of electrical equipment to Drs. Foster & Smith for exchange or refund is limited to 60 days from the date of purchase. Beyond 60 days, please contact the manufacturer for repair or replacement as covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
