Universal Motor Instruction Manual (For Model Numbers: 76076, 76111, 78005, 78015, 78705, & 78715.)
Operating: If the speed of the motor varies (indicated by a change in sound), it is normally the result of a change in the position of the appliance or a fluctuation in your line of voltage. When the appliance is lubricated in accordance with instructions, it will deliver ample power and speed for professional hair-cutting requirements.
Lubricating Motor:
Greasing:
Carbon Brushes: To remove a Brush on models with a Slotted Brush Cap - Unscrew the Brush Cap (a dime is an excellent tool for this purpose) and remove the Nylon Insulator Cap. Remove the brass cap by applying slight pressure to the sides of the cap with a fingernail in a picking fashion. Remove the Brush and spring assembly and compare the length of the round sections of the brush. When the square section has been reduced to the length of the round section, the brush must be replaced to prevent possible damage to the motor armature. Always replace the Brushes as a set (2 Brushes), even though only one may be at or below required length. When re-installing the Brush, make certain that the sharp corners of the Brush are aligned with the triangular notches in the brass cap and the nylon cap over the Brush spring. Press down to seal the brass cap into the brush tube. Replace the slotted outer cap and screw down tightly to prevent loosening.
Use Oster Brushes:
Blade Sharpening: When sharpening blades becomes necessary, send blades to Oster or an Authorized Service Center where approved methods, equipment, and proper knowledge are used to restore the original hollow-ground design and best cutting ability. Sharpening blades by flat grinding or any method contrary to the design and construction of Oster cutting blades is not recommended.
Cleaning Blades:
Oiling and Cleaning Blades: To clean, turn appliance on and submerge the cutting blades in Oster Blade Wash Cleaner. Never place or drop in water or other liquids, except Oster cleaning and oiling products. Wipe the outside surfaces of the blade with a dry, clean cloth and begin clipping again. If after cleaning with Oster Blade Wash cleaner, your blade still does not cut properly, it is possible very fine hair did not wash out from between the blades. If this is the case, it is necessary to remove the blade set from the clipper. Without loosening the tension spring screws, slide the upper blade to one side but not completely out from under tension spring, and wipe the mating surfaces clean. Place a drop of oil on the mating surfaces and in the tension spring guide slot. Slide upper blade to the other side and repeat process. Slide the upper blade back into position and reassemble clipper. With the clipper running, lubricate the blades with a light coat of Oster Kool-Lube lubricant or a drop or two of Oster Premium Lubricating Oil.
Maintenance and Storage: To store unit: Coil and secure cord and place in original carton. |
