Best Freshwater Pond Kit Available
The prior reviewer is wrong about this kit. It accurately measures the freshwater phosphate levels which are of most importance to a pond owner, namely 0 - 1000 ppb. Desired phosphate levels are 0 -100 ppb to have minimal algae growth. Over that and algae growth begins. It is important to know how much phosphate you are dealing with, because it affects treatment options. 100 - 500 ppb might call for a phosphate binder like the Laguna Phos - X product sold on this site. Over 500 ppb might dictate a more robust product that comes in bulk liquid form, and as much as needed can be added. Over 1000 ppb is an ecological disaster for a pond, imo, and would start to call for water change. This is the only kit I could find that accurately measures in that range. It has a unique continuous color matching scheme that allows much better matches. Also, the colors look exactly like the sample! That may sound simple, but for so many of the kits I have tried, for all pond parameters, the colors have different makeup than the measurement samples, which makes matching very difficult, almost guesswork.

Good for salt water probably, but not for fresh!
I still have to figure out how to use it for fresh water because it claims to be for freshwater also, but when you read the instructions outside it tells that concentrations found in fresh water are "outside" the range reported by this kits, and that sample water needs to be diluted with distilled water... without mentioning how and in what quantities!
All this makes this product completely unusable for fresh water... unless I am unable to read its instructions!
Now I am looking around for a different kit to measure phosphates in my fresh water planted aquarium.
