Surface Skimmer 4-1/2" x 11-1/2"; 5/8" hose diameter
Good product for the price
I finally installed it and work for what it was intended for

This skimmer works well. No more nasty scum on top of the water. I connected it to the intake of my Eheim canister filter for my 55-gal freshwater tank; it's a fraction of the price for the brand-name alternative. Its not particularly pretty and adds to the clutter of paraphernalia on that end of the tank, but it's quiet and does the job beautifully. The skimmer is actually a dual-intake, sucking water in from the bottom, the top, or both. The adjustment is easy and straightforward (although the directions that come with this product are minimal.) You need to turn off the top intake when feeding or it will skim the food right off, but this is easily done with a few turns of the central wand. It's easy to clean and set up. I wish I'd purchased this sooner.

This did it's job!
I was getting upset with the oily residue on the water in my dirted aquarium. I was never sure where it came from (I still don't know). I saw this on You Tube, I then looked on the Dr. Foster's site and bought it. I really like it. If you take time and set it right it works great without any suction noise. I've had it running for about a month and no more oily residue on the water!

Superior performance from a simple design
Planted aquariums often develop an organic surface film that is visually unappealing and can interfere with light transmission. I easily connected this inexpensive skimmer directly to the intake of a Marineland H.O.T. canister filter using the elbow provided- no need for the corrugated tubing also included. Works like a charm on my 85 gal bowfront, easily adjustable, minimally obtrusive, water surface is crystal clear!
