Outdoor Exercise for Dogs: Walky Dog Bike Attachment at Drs. Foster & Smith

Two-part system converts from bicycle attachment to baton leash in seconds. Universal bicycle mount remains secured while quick-release disconnect allows convenient detachment. Internal tension spring absorbs jolts and jerks for a smoother ride and better control. Allen wrench included for easy mounting. 3/4" diameter with 1" diameter padded handle x 26".

Installation:
Assembly is very easy and takes no more than 5 minutes. Use included, Allen wrench to tighten the screws.

After opening the package, separate the two parts of the fixing jaw.
Position the two parts of the fixing jaw on the center (bicycle seat/saddle) pole, slightly tightening the screws with the connectors. Allow the jaw to stay in position but still loose enough to adjust.
For non-standard bicycle seat/saddle pole diameter (or simply to avoid scratches) wrap the included rubber/foam strip around the pole before positioning the jaw.
Attach the tubular bar to bicycle mount.
Orient the tubular bar (baton) backwards approximately 20°.
Tighten the screws firmly.
Make sure the quick-lock is completely attached.

Adjusting Walky Dog:
Adjust the cord (lanyard) length by regulating the number of springs composing the internal shock-absorbing system. Reduce the number of springs to lengthen cord or to reduce tension strength for smaller size dogs. Access the internal spring by unscrewing the front bullet terminal and extracting the cord. Undo the knot holding the springs and remove one or two springs and re-tie knot before inserting it in the tubular bar.

General Adjustment Suggestions:

3 springs for adult dogs such as Alaskan Malamutes, Dobermans, and similar dogs.
2 springs for adult dogs such as Siberian Husky, Golden Retriever, Dalmatians, German Shepherds, and similar dogs.
1 spring for small sized dogs.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

Tighten screws on the universal mounting jaw for secure attachment.
Adjust the number of internal springs until the desired cord length is achieved.
If cord/lanyard begins to fray, replace with similar shape/size cord with same diameter.
After use in dust or wet conditions, check the internal springs for rust. To help prevent rusting, spray springs periodically with silicone sprays.
Make sure the Front Bullet is tightly secured onto tubular bar.
Wipe entire product periodically with a damp rag (with a mild detergent) to remove dust and grease.

Important Note and Legal Disclaimer:
Children younger than 15 years of age and weighing less than 88 lbs should not use Walky Dog. The use of Walky Dog by children is strongly recommended under strict parental supervision. Riders carrying children on their bike should not use Walky Dog. Walky Dog is specifically designed for the professional endurance training of competition dogs. Check local Highway codes before using product on public roads.

Fairly easy to install (I wish the picture instructions were bigger) and the dog needs not be trained. I attached it to my bike, hook it to the dog's collar and off we go. It is also nice that you need not bring a leash since once detached, it can be used as a leash. If you take it to the beach, be careful not to get sand in the lock or it will stop working (I had to soak it in water to rinse out the sand). Great product!!

Ryan K Auburndale, WI		I have a 15 month old lab that has to be worked out 3 times a day or he is restless in the evening when we are trying to get the kids to sleep. I was browsing and saw this product so I thought I would try it out. Here are a couple of notes that you might find helpful. 1) When you think the coupler is tight enough... tighten it some more. He was strong enough to adjust it, and tried to switch sides on me. 2) We walked for a few minutes before i jumped on the bike. It was more to get him comfortable with a bike being so close to him. 3) It will take a few rides before he stops trying to go his own way. It is a bit of a workout trying to keep in balance. 4) On our first run he did about 1 mile full tilt and would have kept going if I let him. I need to get my speedometer fixed, so I can work on his endurance and keep him from over doing it. 5) I don't think a normal collar is appropriate to use. I used his walking harness. This would be sufficient, unless your dog is uncomfortable. I think I need to invest in a pulling harness, because I don't want him getting chaffed.
