EZ - Tilt Heated Birdbath

Unique "EZ-Tilt-To-Clean" mounting bracket allows convenient tilt-and-lift function. Simply undo catch and tilt birdbath for cleaning and draining, or lift straight up to remove birdbath completely for storage. Thermostatically controlled heater automatically maintains ice-free water even in -20°F weather. Attaches to 2" x 4" or 2" x 6" deck rails. Mounting hardware included. Plastic unit holds 6 quarts water. 150 watts. 15" cord. 20" diameter x 2" deep.

Precautions:

• Use with grounded outlets only.
• When using an extension cord, only use extension cords rated for "outdoor use." Cord must be rate as an "outdoor" cord by the manufacturer and must be rated to carry 150 watts of power (1.25 amp).
• Always wrap several layers of electrical tape around the connection between the birdbath cord and your extension cord.
• Cord length of birdbath is designed so that the connection will remain above the snow line when mounted on a pedestal or mounted on a deck rail. DO NOT LET THE CONNECTION LAY IN SNOW OR WATER.
• Always be sure the bath is placed safely away from possible snow drifts
• DO NOT place the bath directly on the ground
• NEVER place the bath where puddling or pooling of water is likely to occur.

When cleaning bath:
Scrub out dish without immersing lower section in water. NEVER fully immerse bath in water.

Installation:
To attach to a deck rail:

1. Attach upper part of birdbath bracket to the bottom of the birdbath top. Bracket should straddle and completely cover the raised rectangular black section of the birdbath. Use the provided small screw and lock washer.
2. Insert the power cord into the slot provided. The cord must be "wedged" in this slot in order to keep the bath level on the deck rail.
3. Place lower bracket onto your deck rail.
   1. Be sure to place this bracket with the bolt-heads facing away from your deck. This is the direction that the bath will tilt and dump water.
   2. The "deck railing protective plate" should be placed against the back of the deck rail. The bolts should be pressing against this plate.
   3. If the bolts are too short to make contact with the "deck railing protective plate" then use the longer bolts, provided. NOTE: It is critical to use the shortest possible bolt to avoid interference between the bolt heads and the tilting action of the birdbath.
   4. Tighten bolts while pushing downward on the top of the bracket surface. Once bolts are "finger tightened," use a wrench an turn approximately 3/4 turn on each bolt. NOTE: Be sure the top of the bracket has remained flat against the deck rail surface. This will keep your birdbath level and will also make the lower bracket more securely fastened to the deck rail. If needed, loosen the bolt and repeat Step "d" while applying downward pressure to the top of the bracket.
4. Insert the tab (found on upper bracket) into the "slot for tab" found on the lower bracket.
5. Lower the bath onto the lower bracket until the upper bracket snaps into the "locking hole" of the lower bracket. At this point, the bath should rest against your deck rail.
6. To disengage the bath for cleaning or dumping of the water, simply pull back on the tab on the upper bracket and it will disengage from the locking hole of the lower bracket. The bath will now be free to tilt backward or can be lifted off the lower bracket.

1. Insert post in ground in desired location.
2. Fasten a board (either a 2 x 4 or 2 x 6) approximately 12 inches long to the top of the 4 x 4 post to form a "T" shape.
3. Now follow all directions for attaching to a deck rail.

1. Lift the birdbath off the lower deck bracket.
2. Loosen the center screw.
3. Wrap the cord around the raised center portion of the plastic bath. The cord should pass under the bracket twice.
4. Reposition the bracket so that it is once again straddling the raised rectangular black section of the birdbath
5. Tighten the center screw and insert onto lower bracket.

This is a really nice birdbath. I installed it myself on my deck very easily. It looks nice, works perfectly, and the wild birds love it!
