Instructions Installing a new Bio3 Filter Cartridge
Rinse the Bio3 Cartridge briefly under running water to flush away any carbon dust.
Slide the Cartridge into the V-grooves of the filter with the blue biological sponge facing the aquarium overflow.
Change the Bio3 Cartridge every 3-4 weeks. If your filter includes a Bio Foam Pad, your may also use it along with the Bio3 Cartridge.
Instructions
Install the assembled Bio3 Cartridge following the instructions for the Single pack (see above).
When the Bio3 Cartridge needs changing, remove used Cartridge and open Frame by pushing up on the Lock Tab. Discard used Floss/Carbon Bag. Briefly rinse new Floss/Carbon Bag and place into the Frame on the side marked "Filter Bag with Carbon Here." IMPORTANT: Re-use Blue Biological Sponge. It has been colonized with important aerobic bacteria. To replace an excessively dirty sponge, place a new sponge into your aquarium for a few days to be colonized by aerobic bacteria. Discard old sponge and replace with new one for uninterrupted biological filtration.
Snap the Frame together and slide the Bio3 Cartridge down into the V-grooves of the filter with Blue Biological Sponge facing the Overflow.
Mechanical filtration can greatly improve the health of most aquariums, and is also important for the efficiency of your biological filtration. The process is simple: mechanical media strains solid debris.
Biological filtration is the action of bacteria breaking down dangerous ammonia, converting it to nitrite, and then converting nitrite to less toxic nitrate. This article discusses how the process works.
While most aquarists agree biological filtration is imperative for your aquarium's health, not all agree that mechanical and chemical filtration is absolutely necessary.
Aquarium filter media are usually grouped into three basic categories: mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration. Hybrid filter media are becoming more common as aquarium hobbyists expect more from their equipment and filter media.
