I had just rescued our Jack Russell Terrier from the local shelter, and had not had a dog for a number of years and had forgotten how quickly they can become infested with fleas in our area. Well, within a few days I was seeing massive amounts of fleas crawling on him through his short white hair. My vet recommended Capstar to kill the fleas already infesting him. I must admit that I was somewhat skeptical when the vet said the dog would be flea free within 1 to 2 hours of treatment, but seeing (or NOT seeing) is believing!! Capstar is amazing!! Had the dog in my lap after he ingested the Capstar, and actually found dead fleas in my lap within the first 30 minutes, and he was flea free in 1 hour!! I definately recommend using Capstar for a dog that is currently infested with fleas prior to applying K9 Advantix for prevention of re-infestation. Try it once on a flea infested dog, and you'll be a believer also!
We have lots of fleas in my area. In my household we have two dogs and a cat so flea control can be a challenge. I use Capstar and Program together and they work great! Capstar gets rid of the fleas very quickly and is especially effective on our cat as she gets dermatitis very easily from flea bites. I like both of these products as well because I can give the same pill to both our dogs and cats which cuts down on the amount of boxes and medications I have to keep in stock.
In no way, do I sell or work in anyway close to this product. I said that, just in case I come off to strong, on how good this product is. I am another person with 2 dogs (as well 2 birds, fish, snakes, etc...) I have tried both the products of advantage (also plus version), and will easily admit, they do not do what they say. However CAPSTAR, IS EXCELLENT, AND WILL WORK AS CLAIMED. I am very tired of flea control that does not work, so this was a blessing. Granted, it does nothing for eggs, larva, etc.. It will kill EVERY flea capable of biting your animal (so all fleas that jump). And I have used it safely at 2 pills within 12 hours (at first I wondered if it worked). I do not recommend the 2 pills per 12 hours, in all honesty it is a waste. Just not being a big believer in products, I had figured this stuff would also not do what it claims. But now that I know it works, I will turn to Capstar before ANY other drug/flea control. The first time I used it, I had figured I would see dead fleas within 30 minutes (this may not be the case for everyone). I saw a few, but not what I thought the drug claimed. So I checked every hour, and would see a few more, etc... So by the 12th hour, I gave another dose (was not needed). About a half hour after that I did a thorough check, and found 0 fleas. Problem was, the first pill HAD killed off 98% of them, I just needed to wait a tad longer. So then I would shave them, bathe them, then use the advantage (as well plus version), and within 4 to 5 days, I would see more fleas. Hence repeat (after the first month), to no luck with the advantage. At least the Capstar does as it is supposed to (YES, IT WILL KILL ALL ADULT FLEAS)
Wow! My dog is going through her first major flea problem. I never knew about Capstar, so when I saw the glowing reviews, I had to try it. It is wonderful! We put an old sheet on the floor where my dog likes to lay and maybe about an hour or two after giving her the pill, they were falling off her in bunches! It was really amazing to see. Some were already dead and some were still moving, but you could see they were sick, they didn't even jump or anything. This is a great product and so easy to administer.
